Regardless of their religious beliefts, many times political figures will receive gifts from foreign countries which could be described as religious in nature. Any gift given earnestly by honest people - whatever their beliefs may be - should be accepted in a like manner, earnestly and honestly. As a Christian, such a gift should be accepted as a symbol of the hopes and aspirations of the giver, and should be put in a public place in honor of the *givers*, not a personal place in honor of the *gift*. Honoring the giver - not the gift - takes it out of the realm of idolatry and puts it in the realm of gratitude.
Such is the nature of diplomacy and dealings on a national level, and we have a sign here of how Barak Obama deals with gifts; everything to him personal, a reflection of himself.
Instead of earnestly and honestly accepting this gift, this gift was accepted in secret through a proxy by a back way. This speaks volumes about Obama’s character, and it is not good.
BARACK OBAMA, the 46-year-old Illinois senator, who emerged victorious in an epic 17-month long electoral battle for Democratic party nomination, by defeating his rival Hillary Clinton, carries a tiny monkey god with him for good luck. It apparently represents Lord Hanuman.
A recent photo posted on Times White House Photo of the Day collection shows that Obama carries with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gamblers lucky chit, a tiny monkey god and a tiny Madonna and child.
Obama must think that we misinterpret the 10 Commandments too:
Do not have any other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
could you please tell me which scripture in God's Word you got that from ?
