What is the difference between “Transubstantiation” and “Consubstantion”??
Short answer:
Transubstantiation - held by Roman Catholics. The bread and wine are transformed in substance into the flesh and blood of Christ. Ping NYer or Salvation if you want a fuller, and perhaps more accurate explication of the Roman view.
Consubstantiation - held by Lutherans. The body and blood of Christ are physically present in, with, and under the bread and wine. Sorry, I don’t know who to ping for the Lutherans.
The Reformed view, set forth above, is that the bread and wine remain bread and wine, but that Christ is really spiritually present. (see paragraph 7)
The Baptist view is that the bread and wine are memorials.
