FLDS raid appears to have backfired

ELDORADO, TEXAS -- As officials haggled Friday over how to return more than 400 children to their parents, it was becoming increasingly clear that Texas' audacious attempt to rein in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had backfired -- and become a lesson in the difficulty of cracking down on the 10,000-member polygamist sect.... Authorities raided the FLDS compound in April after receiving an anonymous phone call. Although they did not find the caller, who said she was a minor being sexually abused on the compound -- the call appears to have been a hoax -- officials said they discovered evidence that all of the children there were at risk.

But an appellate court last week found that child-welfare officials had overstepped their authority. The Texas Supreme Court agreed, and on Thursday ordered the children released.

"I said from the word go, if there's sex with underage girls, nail their butt," said Griffin. "But nail the right people. We're going to wind up with a $30-million bill here in this little county because these people didn't have their ducks in a row."

That about sums it up, doesn’t it?

Anybody with half a brain knew this action would never be sustained in Court yet we had many here ready to imprison every member of that ranch on zero evidence.

I am gonna miss all the hysteria around here on FR when these people are vindicated. Blaket policies have always been contrary to The Constitution but CPS never lets little things like that get in the way.

I did not know, until I read this article, that the SAME thing was done to these folks in Arizona in 1953, with the SAME end result.

I guess the ol’ cliche is correct: “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.

"The removal of the children at th Texas Polygamist Compound is the latest example of knee jerk panic leading to mass violations of human and constitutional rights."

"This was a “legal lynch mob”. Not legal in the sense that what was done was legitimate, legal in the sense that it was a judicial lynching."

An FLDS spokesperson, Willie Jessop, commented on the unfolding situation from Eldorado.

“Today is the beginning of reunification,” Jessop said. “And with the help of the thousands of prayers that have been offered, we believe God can start to mend so many broken and devastated hearts.”

Jessop also said they have been widely misrepresented and misunderstood.

***Despite these things, Jessop went on to say the church will no longer preside over any marriage involving underage girls.***

Guilty!!!

“Panic and fear are not legal grounds to circumvent the law. How have these knee jerk panic decisions that ultimately wasted time and money with no real benefit to the children protected those rights? The children are going back. (an appeal if any will fail) and if anything was going on the parents and their lawyers are ready and loaded for bear.”

“At the time we are all consumed with our panic and making irrational decisions we completely forget about the fact that for every decision of flawed logic we make at the center of the ripples, cause and effect pushes outward with often tragic consequences that we have neither thought about nor care about in our all consuming fear and hate. Knee Jerk panic at its’ best.”

No it didn’t backfire.
It just proved that liberals in the justice system let children go back to being sexually abused and women living like all they need is a burka with no rights as a woman in the 21st cen.

They were allowed to walk just as some of the terrorists
have been allowed to walk

Jeffs, the former FLDS leader, was convicted last year of rape as an accomplice for forcing a 14-year-old girl to marry—and have sex against her will with—her 19-year-old cousin.

As seen below, Jeffs is pictured with a girl named Loretta in three photos, which were snapped in January 2005 and recorded the couple’s “First Anniversary.” Six other images show Jeffs, now 52, in July 2006 photos with a girl named Merrianne, who was 12 at the time

Now the children are put back into this with a new perverted head of this cult.

So now the liberals are upholding the constitution? I guess that is the way the wind must be blowing where you are at.

They are interpreting the constitution to their version.
It is done all the time which is to bad.

I have worked in the legal system for many years
including dealing with homicides, chld abuse, etc.
many which have been for months on national news.
