Heard that Hebrew was a dead language at the time. Those who could write used Greek or Aramaic. Everybody could read Hebrew to some degree since it was taught in school.

Heard that Hebrew was a dead language at the time...Everybody could read Hebrew to some degree since it was taught in school.

And I've heard that evidence is coming to light that shows that Hebrew was spoken by Jesus and others. Also as you stated it was read and taught in school it's hard for me to imagine how it could be taught to be read but not spoken
