Unless of course that one believes that the heavens are not closed, and that God indeed does speak to man, like in times of old, and that all holy scripture is just that, the words given by God to His prophets.

Yes then you believe in a God who changes.

No God doesn't change. His promises that he works through prophets is sure.

Amos 3:7
7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, abut he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Luke 1
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

I've already posted the Ephesians reference about the continued need for apostles and prophets... that is we all come to the unity of the faith, and not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Eph. 4: 13-14
