Nondenominational (caucus)

Nondenominational Adjective 1. Not restricted to a particular religious denomination; "a nondenominational church".

Unfortunately, our previous nondenominational caucus got deleted for unknown reasons.

To clarify for all... before I get accused of belonging to a denomination, I departed the Free Methodist Church in Sept, where I pastored, and have not yet found a new church.

Unable to participate in any caucus threads, I think there needs to be a place for non denominational Christians

I would like to use this caucus to begin accumulating names for a religion forum ping list, to be used for non denominational articles of interest. It would also be used in the new format of thread designations.

You thread has been changed from “caucus” to “open”.

May I ask what denomination you are?

I am a member of a non-denominational congregation of believers. Most evangelical churches are non-denominational and therefore they should be entitled to the same rights and privileges that are afforded to denominations and other sects.

It seems to me that your decision is arbitrary. If you are going to deny equal access to the "caucus" designation, I would at least request that you provide us a darned good reason.

Up until your post, this has been a very non-confrontational thread. However, since you have taken it upon yourself to open it up to confrontation, then I am going to confront you.

What reason could YOU possibly have to deny all of us non-denominational Christians a caucus?

I am a member of the United Methodist denomination.

Having spent some 20 years of my life as an Army Chaplain, I have run across all types of denominations. Religion in the military is really no different than religion in America. The Army gets a cross-section of just about the entire US population in almost every category. Religion is no different.

I can vouch after years of experience that there really are those who are not part of an organized denomination. Generally, they do not accept hierarchies and are organized as independent, local churches. They owe no allegiance to any higher body.

We regularly used the expression “non-denominational” to describe folks from this type of religious confession/affiliation.

In that they do have these distinctives in common, it seems only fair that they, too, be able to caucus to discuss those items common to Christian groups that eschew hierarchical or organizational ties.

Let me recommend that Free Republic discuss this with the Religion Moderator before they make a hard and fast rule in this regard that discriminates against what truly is a common, separate type of religious expression in our country.

Right, they were Jews, but they were the first Christians. And non-denominational ones at that...

The issue has been resolved.

"Non-denominational" is a valid category for caucuses, etc.

I consider my self a “defrocked” Baptist, which is to say I’m comfortable worshipping in Baptist to charismatic type churches but wary of all the legalisms that such churches can exhibit, ie what to wear, when to worship, pre vs amillenialism vs pre trib , toungues and gifts vs the Bible as final revelation ad infinitum...

So can you add me to your list?

I welcome all nondenominational Christians

I belong to a nondenominational church that has chosen to affiliate with the SBC for mission and church planting purposes. Though we are Baptist in many ways, calvangelicostal would be a better description of us.

If I am welcome, please add me to your list.
