Not LDS, but I do love the story of Nicodemus. There is a point (can’t cite the exact scripture) at which Nicodemus ceases to be “he who came to Jesus by night.” In other words, for quite a while, old Nick was identified by his unwillingness to profess Jesus publicly, but after a certain point, he “came out of the closet” for the Lord, and was so acknowledged.
One more thing: have you ever noticed this-—that while Jesus drove out the cattle and overturned the tables of money (both of which could be collected or gathered back up), He did NOT open the bird cages, for the vendors would have lost their money when the birds flew away. He basically handed the cages to them and said, “Get these out of here.” I find that an amazing comment on Jesus’s understanding of property rights, that he didn’t want to deprive them of their means to a living, only to have them practice it under the proper conditions.

"Later mention of Nicodemus tends to confirm the estimate of the man as he appears in this meeting with Jesus -- -that of one who was conscious of a belief in the Christ, but whose belief was never developed into such genuine and virile faith as would impel to acceptance and compliance irrespective of cost or consequence."

"Following the example of Andrew, and of John the future apostle, the people were leaving the Baptist and gathering about the Christ. John's reply to his ardent followers constitutes a sublime instance of self-abnegation. His answer was to this effect: A man receives only as God gives unto him. It is not given to me to do the work of Christ. Ye yourselves are witnesses that I disclaimed being the Christ, and that I said I was one sent before Him. He is as the Bridegroom; I am only as the friend of the bridegroom, His servant; and I rejoice greatly in being thus near Him; His voice gives me happiness; and thus my joy is fulfilled. He of whom you speak stands at the beginning of His ministry; I near the end of mine. He must increase but I must decrease. He came from heaven and therefore is superior to all things of earth; nevertheless men refuse to receive His testimony. To such a One, the Spirit of God is not apportioned; it is His in full measure. The Father loveth Him, the Son, and hath given all things into His hand, and: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
Thank you for posting. I wouldn't have read this today otherwise.
A request — I’d like to begin reading at Chapter 1, but am unable to. Is there a way I can access online? I can access the other chapters from your post. Thanks.
Is there a way to get you guys to post your religion somewhere else, like maybe your own church website? And why must you always type headlines in ALL CAPS?
It is easy enought scroll past you but soon the only headlines with be from you guys. It is getting over done.
If someone could help figure out how to block these threads from appearing on my screen I would appreciate it. Not sure if FR has that feature or not. Thanks.
If you do not wish to see RF posts, do NOT use the "everything" option on the browse. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."
thanks so much. Have a great day!
Amazing, isn’t it? And it works every time. :-) LOL. Gees.
Question? Why are these things SO long-winded?
Thanks, I agree. Taking Nicodemus’s other acts of kindness and love toward the Savior, he was a rarity among the elite of the Jews of the time. He stood up for Christ at his trial, and brought burial herbs after His death. I think he could see past the prideful and ungodly traditions of the Sanheidren, and understood, at least to some degree, the spirit of the law.
Cheers.
I also find it interesting that He was slow to anger. His cleaning of the temple was for a good reason, but it was done and spoken more as a rebuke than as uncontrolled anger.
Sorry for the intrusion. This is in the religion forum. We’ll cease posting all these articles just as soon as we stop getting defined by others with an ax to grind. There are two sides to every story.
Here’s why so many posts have happened lately.
Cheers.

I guess one could ask that about any of the scriptures as well. Since this is a epic treatise on the life and mission of Christ, that is a lot indeed. I’ve only begun to post all of it. Stay tuned if you care, or ignore it if you must. Read previous post as to why so many LDS threads, this one included.
How does posting of a link to a flame thread fall under the guidelines for an ecumenic thread??
"Ecumenic threads in this trial run are closed to all anti arguments. Posters who try to tear down others beliefs or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended."
"That means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs. He can only argue for what he believes or ask questions." "
To quote the RM on another ecumenic thread, with the same concerns you are stating...
“Dont bring that pig/hose discussion here.”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/2017029/posts?page=18#18
So, in your opinion, the “pig, hose” discussion is to be linked to as a matter of information? How ecumenical.
If the pig/hose metaphor is all you got out of that post of Grig’s, then I don't know how we are supposed to communicate here, and I'm truly sorry you feel that way.
