To: Dixie Yooper; muawiyah; quadrant

I took quadrant to mean “Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox.” It looks like muawiyah understood something altogether different. Off the top of my head I thought of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Muawiyah, what did you think the third one was?

The creeds are, as they always were, The Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and then there's the Definition of Chalcedon and the Athanasian Creed .

Then there are the non-ecumenical creeds used only by one major group.

Once printing was invented, and books became cheap, the creeds were less necessary to the faithful in the development of an understanding of Christian belief.

The Athanasian Creed is less familiar but I understand it is used by many of the Orthodox Churches.
