>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<
Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.
And I love my Roman Catholic brothers and sisters and, in fact, all eight of my partners are Roman Catholic and I am the only Protestant in an office of 20 people and we get along famously, partying together every chance we get. But it doesn't stop some on this forum from calling me a “Catholic hater” or “anti Catholic” or my beliefs “heresy” because I disagree with their beliefs each time they post them. They have defined the terms “hater”, “anti” and “heresy”, within the context of this debate, so let's all be consistent in their usage.
After being called on it.
The dispute arises when netmilsmom replied to your #140 with her #169.
Only the next day, in #387, did you link to Vatican.va with footnotes in the text.
Wow, twisted memory. Here is your post from #360.
Well, its awfully damned nice of most protestants to freely acknowledge the presence of many true believers in Christ among Roman Catholics. I will reply in kind to this out-pouring of magnaminity by stating that most Catholics believe Protestants to be Christans, but of the benighted, misguided and heretical variety.
My only post that was even remotely venomous was in response to your venom. Other than that, it has been mostly a friendly discussion.
>>I NEVER quoted from Vatican.org. <<
The website Vatican.org belongs to Gerald Beals in Calgary Canada according to Network Solutions who provides domains.

Post 552 “The verbatim excerpt I posted was “lifted” from Vatican.org.” (by Dr. E)
Post 533 “The bottom line, however, amidst all this deflection, is that you as a Catholic challenged the words which I posted which were verbatim from the catechism of the Catholic church, via Vatican.org.” (by Dr. E)
Post 2- Credibility 0.
Dan Rather is sueing CBS by the way.
And tsk, tsk on making up search strings....
>>However, when anyone actually goes to Google and puts in the words, “#460” and “Catechism of the Catholic Church” you go directly to a Catholic website which posts the catechism which is exactly what I did. <<
Go on back to the Google search string I used waaayyyy back at the beginning when you doctored your quote I think it’s 140.
You are failing to see that it takes you to Google. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
But the spinning is so fun isn’t it?
“And I love my Roman Catholic brothers and sisters and, in fact, all eight of my partners are Roman Catholic and I am the only Protestant in an office of 20 people and we get along famously, partying together every chance we get”
As an aside, I am the senior partner and hired all eight of my partners and all but one of the 11 para legals and administrative assistants (titles vs raises). I am also the social chairman, responsible for the never-ending party at the office.
Quite frankly, I do not take offense at being called a “hater” or “anti” or my beliefs “heresy”. Being a lawyer I have been and am being called worse, it goes with the territory of being an advocate. But all should be playing on the same playing field and with the same rules.
Ontology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
~~~~~This article discusses ontology in philosophy. For the term in computer science, see ontology (computer science). In philosophy, ontology (from the Greek ὄν, genitive ὄντος: of being (part. of εἶναι: to be) and -λογία: science, study, theory) is the most fundamental branch of metaphysics. It studies being or existence and their basic categories and relationships, to determine what entities and what types of entities exist. Ontology thus has strong implications for conceptions of reality.
Some philosophers, notably of the Platonic school, contend that all nouns refer to entities. Other philosophers contend that some nouns do not name entities but provide a kind of shorthand way of referring to a collection (of either objects or events). In this latter view, mind, instead of referring to an entity, refers to a collection of mental events experienced by a person; society refers to a collection of persons with some shared characteristics, and geometry refers to a collection of a specific kind of intellectual activity. Any ontology must give an account of which words refer to entities, which do not, why, and what categories result.
When one applies this process to nouns such as electrons, energy, contract, happiness, time, truth, causality, and god, ontology becomes fundamental to many branches of philosophy.
Ontology has one basic question: "What actually exists?" Different philosophers provide different answers to this question.~~~~~
So we see Anthanasius is trying to discuss this issue with an eye on Ontology...Ontology apparently is a branch of Plato's Philosophy...
Would seem pagan philosopy would have nothing in common with the Spiritual realm of God, but, oh well...
But what remains is that Athanasius in not trying to give an explanation because Ontology is nothing more than a philosophy...But what he is doing is denying the statement in your Catechism that you will become gods but you must trust Athanasius on this philosophy becauce HE understands philosophy, and you don't...
Try going to Vatican.org. Can you do it?
No. No one can go to Vatican.org because there is NO Vatican.org on the internet.
Thankfully, this is clear to anyone with a keyboard and half a brain. (I'm assuming you have both.)
If at some point I mis-typed Vatican.org for Vatican.va it would be clear that it was a mistype BECAUSE THERE IS NO VATICAN.ORG.
Perpetual spinning simply sends one further down into a hole of their own making.
I am not happy with them and it has nothing to do with their religion.
I'm not going to let them bother me.
This thread has shown that there are many more Protestants that think I'm quite alright. And that's what I thought all along. Most Protestants are not Anti-Catholic, but some here sure are. And if someone tries to “educate” me on my beliefs by “slash and burn evangelism”, you bet I'm not thinking too much of them. Protestant or not. Makes no difference to me.
“Ontologically” in the passage means “of or relating to essence or the nature of being.” Follow the context.
Go ahead, Petronski. See where it takes you.
The website you have requested does not exist.
That is not relevant to my post in 662. It is misdirection.
That's why these threads are so informative.
Oh no not 666
Until I posted that Network solutions said that Vatican.org was owned by a guy from Canada.
Pity those posts don’t have an expiration date, huh?
>>Perpetual spinning simply sends one further down into a hole of their own making.<<
Wow is that a FACT, isn’t it?
Now comes the suggestion that most Protestants are not anti-Catholic because most Protestants do not know enough about Catholicism.
To know Catholicism is to hate it, donchaknow.
Bingo!
Although apparently that hasn't stopped some people from accusing other people of linking to and quoting from the non-existent Vatican.org. lol.
>>”Most Protestants” know very little about Roman Catholicism (maybe they’ve been trying to find some info at Vatican.org.)<<
I think it would be great is some person bought that domain that you used to copy the “Catechism” and linked it to Vatican.va. (It’s up for grabs according to Network Solutions)
That’s what the Clintons would do.
Anyone who actually visited Vatican.va would know the reall address is Vatican.va, not some defunct vatican.org.
