>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<
Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.
>>You must be very open-minded. Your mind is being read over and over on this thread.<<
Ooops! Isn’t that against the rules?
And of course if the mod is alerted on it then we have “pushed the abuse button”. So horrible.
Oh my!
I think this indicates “doctrine” is the enemy, not Catholics. Scripture says, “a little leaven, leavens the whole lump.” It only takes one drop of deadly poison to corrupt a pure glass of water. I believe this to be the problem with Catholicism. There is just enough false doctrine to corrupt the church as a whole. As to whether or not someone is a Christian, only those who have a personal relationship with Christ will enter heaven. I do believe Catholic doctrine can be a great hindrance to someone genuinely receiving Christ. With that said, it’s possible for a professing Catholic to be saved. It is someone difficult for me to understand how they can remain under catholic doctrine if they spiritually mature in Christ.
But do you think we are Christians?
I am watching in amusement when the Protestant-haters predictibly revert to trivial “jots anf tittles” when they have no answer for seeming heresy. On another thread it was the LDS that was having problems with man being/becoming Gods.
>>Protestant-haters<<
I think that’s what this thread was about. There is a small select group of Anti-Catholic posters, and the rest are loving charitable FReepers who think we ARE Christians.
Personally, I’m far from a Protestant hater (married one, Netmilsdad), I know that Judith Anne and Petronski aren’t. They never said they hated my hubby. Neither did Tax-Chick, annalex or the many other Catholic FReepers I’ve talked to.
So maybe somewhere there are FReepers who hate Protestants, but they are sure not on THIS thread.
Why don’t you start an open thread and ask if Catholics hate Protestants?
“Why dont you start an open thread and ask if Catholics hate Protestants?”
I don’t have to. All it takes is looking at the threads that are posted daily and the arrogance of the posters to know who the Protestant-haters are.
Whether one is a Christian does not depend on what others think and to ask the question is only baiting.
>>All it takes is looking at the threads that are posted daily and the arrogance of the posters to know who the Protestant-haters are.<<
How can you read the mind of another poster? Isn’t that against the rules?
Let alone their hearts.
But at least I’m assured that none of the Good Catholics here are whom you are speaking of, because Lord knows, they would have held some major disdain for my Hubby!!!!
My husband was Lutheran when we married. I was nothing, with a Jewish mother. We both became Catholic, later on.
Not to be disagreeable, but it's a legitimate question, imho. Hopefully, what may come from such a discussion is the realization that all Christian faiths may have more in common than was previously thought, and that it's possible to ask such a question just to raise general awareness.
>>with a Jewish mother<<
Both of them, right?
We Catholics love Heavenly Jewish Mother!
And welcome home!
I don’t know who it was who had no answer for “seeming heresy,” or even what that is supposed to be, but I know it cannot include CCC460, since at least two posts on this thread dealt with it seriously, with links to discussions of the theology of Theosis.
How about if we start a thread “Do Roman Catholics hate Protestants?”
I’m late to get the kids, kitten and pup into bed. Maybe tomorrow.
Well...maybe one of our separated brethren could do it, instead....
And the CCC given was not even from the Vatican. It was from Vatican.org and Gerald Beals in Calgary Canada
So hey.
"Riiiight...."
Can you JUST imagine how that would be worded?
LOL!
Do not make this personal.
Straight from the Vatican at Vatican.org, eh?
How about Straight from the Orthodox Presbyterian Church at snakehandlers.biz?
>>How about Straight from the Orthodox Presbyterian Church at snakehandlers.biz?<<
Hmmmm, could be!
