>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<

Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.

I think that would be GRAND! Nothing like spreading the CCC around for all to see. With the Footnotes and Citations!

Praise be to Jesus Christ!

Wow. She sounds like a gem. How fortunate for you. When a person becomes spirit-filled, she is no longer doing things in her own strength. That’s why she has joy!

I linked and discussed Theosis too.

But this is NOT about discussing Theosis, CCC460 and 2nd Peter 1:4.

This is about trashing Catholics and Catholicism with half-truths and smears.

If joy, etc. is a sign of being filled with the HS, many Catholics AND other Christians fail the test. Many just go around with sour pickle faces, always negative, never happy. I doubt if they are filled with the HS. You have to be a Christian to have the HS, and you can ask for it if you want it. Not so hard.

Like one of our posters is fond of saying, “You shall know them by their fruits.”

Justification is without works and FAITH is without works ... Rom 4:4-5

Romans 4 explains the Catholic teaching that works done for reward or as a legal obligation are not salvific, and that especially, circumcision is not salvific. It does not teach salvation by faith alone. How can it? Just a few chapters before that, St. Paul said

6 [God] will render to every man according to his works. 7 To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life: 8 But to them that are contentious, and who obey not the truth, but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation. 9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek. 10 But glory, and honour, and peace to every one that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

(Rom 2)

Those who have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and follow Him, are Christians. No matter what church they belong to. He is looking for committed Christians to carry out His purposes in our lives.

Well Mary, as an American of Italian ancestry and Catholic, I wouuld like to add something to what you wrote earlier. You stated that “you had a friend who was of Italian ancestry and that Italians have nice families”

I would add that they are “nice Catholic Italian Families”, at least all the Italians that I know.

Cheers

I never knew a Catholic family who wasn’t nice, italian or otherwise. Good cooks, too.

I don’t need to. You are wrong in your assertion.

Well Mary, this is the first time you and I have agreed on anything since I have been here, which is proof that miracles do indeed happen in 2008 AD.

You said: Like one of our posters is fond of saying, “You shall know them by their fruits.”

I don’t care for prunes, which is the fruit that I see coming from so many anti-Catholic bigots on these threads. So yeah, believe me, we Catholics do know them by their fruit.

I don’t believe works save you by any means. I’m not Catholic and I believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t know where you get all this stuff but...it just ain’t so.

Well I agree to a certain degree. There are some folks here who are only interested in polemics, some who are not. I have no problem with Protestants who disagree with Catholic doctrines since I disagree with many of their doctrines. What I don’t like are those who misrepresent doctrines and try to score polemical points.

These threads are starting to look like a computer program fatal error that would get you an F back when I was in college, that is a “Do loop that was not closed with proper syntax”, as that would drain the computer lab’s paper out and the lab operators would call the Prof.

It is the same thing over, and over, and over, and over.

Cheers

Then sola fide is not a requirement for salvation? Then Catholics can believe in all the doctrines of the Catholic Church and still go to Heaven?

I wasn't paying that much attention to your Latin words...I was thinking you meant scripture only as opposed to faith only...

Here's what God teaches in the Scripture...

Faith only, gets you the free gift of salvation...Once you accept the free gift, you are counted as righteous...You have been given God's righteousness...Sin is no longer imputed to you...

Judgement:

Christians under Grace will be judged when they die or when they are Raptured

They will not be judged on what they did wrong...Those things will be burned so as to save the soul...Christians we be judged on what good they did, after becoming Christians...The reason for this judgement is to divvy out rewards to the better Christians...

This is NOT the Great White Throne Judgement of Revelation...

Now, what about you guys that don't believe in faith only???

You guys are right on track...What you claim is true...

If you reject faith only, you must live by the Law...And of course as the bible says, you will be judged by the Law as well...You will be judged (as you say) at the White Throne judgement at the end of Revelation...(I, as a faith only guy won't be there)...Judged for what you haved done good, and bad...It's all on your own merit...You have rejected the free righteousness of Jesus by rejecting faith alone...You must work for your ultimate righteousness...

And of course you say, I don't see that in the scriptures...You must be wrong...

Like I've said before, I don't understand everything I know...And I know you guys think you are the new Israel...I don't know if this has something to do with you guys not getting 'faith alone' or not...I know the eyes of Israel have been blinded til the age of Grace is completed...

So I am not saying you are wrong for believing in faith PLUS works...I don't believe you are...I'm just glad I'm not in your shoes...

Some protestants may hate Catholicism but I know of no one who hates Catholics themselves, any more than Catholics hate protestants because they do not agree with them.

Here's what God teaches in the Scripture...

According to your own personal interpretation of Scripture.

Italian families differ. Without the Lord Jesus Christ they can be hell. They are not as they appear from the outside often.

There is nothing like a real Christian family, in which the Gospel is taught in the home and every family problem is brought to God together in prayer. I sometimes think I would love to have been brought up in such a family, but I know that we each have our role to play in life.

I can't imagine why someone who does not believe the Catholic Church can condemn one to hell would care if the Catholic Church condemned them to hell.

It makes no sense, except as an anti-Catholic fetish driven by hate.

Now there you go again...Relying on your wisdom and common sense...

How many lives have you guys destroyed by convincing someone that one of their loved ones is sent to Hell by you guys???
