Stemming from this comment

>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<

Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.

The question is based on a false premise. I could no more answer it “yes or no” if you asked if I believed Southern Baptists were Christians. There are some Christians and some heathens in the SBC and I dare say the same about the RCC.

RCC doctrine - is it Biblical? That’s a question I could answer.

No, I am quoting a Catholic priest quoting other Catholics that no one will be saved outside of the Catholic church.

You are correct, I thought, perhaps incorrrectly, that your statement that the “Catholic CHurch condemns me to hell for not being Catholic” was related to the term anathemas. If you did not mean that, I stand corrected.

Still, the Catholic Church has never condemned any individual to hell as only God can judge the interior heart and soul of a person.

Regards

Too much of that goes on here on both sides and it makes me ill too. We are in very dangerous times today (more so than the Cold War) and need to pull together as Christians and a country. We need to be difference makers.

RCC doctrine - is it Biblical? That’s a question I could answer based on my personal interpretation of Holy Scripture.

Made it more accurate for you.

Well I can say that each Catholic has a guarantee into heaven, but guess what? The Vatican says som-ting else.

So any priest or any Catholic can say anything but unless it comes from the Vatican, the Pope has the last say.

Sinners aren’t defective but human. If they didn’t sin, they would indeed be defective. The honest pursuit of virtue is all that can be expected in the best of us.

Still,so as not to appear anti-Catholic (which I’m not)the following is from the movie,”A Man For All Seasons.”
After Sir Thomas More is convicted of high treason for not supporting King Henry VIII in his attempt to junk the Catholic Church in England,Sir Thomas gives the best,in my opinion, defense of the RCC as the only legitimate Christian church equal to if not above the laws of man:

“Since the court has determined to condemn me,God knoweth how,I will now discharge my mind concerning the indictment and the king’s title.
The indictment is grounded in an act of parliament which is directly repugnant to the law of God and His Holy Church—the supreme government of which no temperable person may by any law presume to take upon him.THIS was granted by the mouth of our Saviour,Christ Himself,to Saint Peter and the bishops of Rome whilst He lived and was personally present here on earth!”

Though a work of fiction, the passage does make a dang good argument.

Do Protestants consider Catholics to be Christians?

Some are, some aren't. Same can be said of Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, etc.

Even over Fr. Hardon so don’t sweat it.

And most of the Catholics think that the Pope is a great spiritual leader, but let me tell you, if the Big Guy ruled differently, we’d be heading with him.

Careful - you’re making it personal. Besides, according your own tag line, a quote from mystic monk, you shouldn’t have to say anything.
