>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<

Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.

Even the petty potshots at Catholicism are factually inaccurate.

That's because the comic books tracts they are getting their bigotry from are inaccurate.

I am not being paid for anything. I am a 42 year old Associate Professor, with a Ph.D., at a major University in the U.S., and not in Philosopy or Religous Studies, or History. I teach in a Business School. Classes are over and I do not teach summer school, so I do have lots of free time on my hand for the rest of the summer. I will admit that I have 3-years of Religous Education through a Benedictine Seminary, which is used by Dioceses in my state and which is used for men seeking the Permanent Diaconate for my local Diocese. Accordingly, I am a certified catechist in my Diocese and work in Religous education at my local parish, particularly in RCIA.

So, if you want to continue to say I am a “paid Catholic Apologists”, that is your right, but I am not. I am a lay Catholic, who loves the Trinity, loves Christ and loves the Catholic Church, for the Truths that it teaches. As one of the Church Fathers stated (off the top of my head, I think it was St. Cyprian of Carthage, and I am paraphrasing), “the person who wants God as his Father can’t fully do so without the Church as his Mother”

Regards old Reggie and I am hoping you will be like the Prodigal son and return home before you pass one.

>>It would perhaps be more forthcoming if you stated in the very beginning that you are a professional Catholic Apologist without one ounce of objectivity.<<

What difference would that make?

>>I’ve learned some important things on Free Republic’s Religion Forum:
The Holy Spirit guides our reading and understanding of Scripture, unless we’re Catholic
Sometimes the Bible speaks in metaphors, but never Catholics!
Catholics must admit they have no objectivity whatsoever
Anti-Catholics don’t like reading<<

I’ve learned something else. If you are brilliant, you are accused of being a “professional” apologist.
And it’s stated like it’s a bad thing.

Bless you CTrent1564!!!!

You forgot this one:

There is only one answer to the only question that ever matters, and the Catholics don’t have a clue.

How about mind reading and attributing motivation is not okay when a Catholic does it.

Okay, that made me spew Orange pop!

How about this one? If a Catholic makes tons of sense, posts references that both Catholics and non-Catholics can relate to, including Bible verses, he will be ignored. Over and over.

Sometimes the Bible speaks in metaphors, but never Catholics!

When Jesus wanted to rebuke the Apostles He usually switched from Aramaic to classical Greek.

Jesus was mad at His parents for abandoning Him at the Temple.

Matthew 25:31-16 is a parable even though it bears no resemblance to any other parable. As is the second half of John Chapter 6 even though scholars have always stated that the Gospel of Saint John doesn't contain any parables.

On the Cross, the Lord was so angry at His mother that he sent her to live with one of the Disciples, he did this to take her away from all of her other children.

And:

Before Scripture existed, Catholics didn’t believe it.

Looks as though this has evolved from a “Was someone lying?” thread into a Catholic caucus thread.

I had a boss that was Catholic and said that all Protestants prayed to Martin Luther.

We don’t pray to God.

He is a fire breathing Catholic. Don’t tell me that every Catholic is an intellectual.

That is what I remember about how he feels about me and others that are not Catholic.

I have not done so, nor would I do so.

Or as we found out today, the Catechism at 900 pages is too long because it’s longer than the King James Bible (which of course would be longer if Protestants hadn’t removed a sizable portion of it), but Calvin’s 1310 page “Institutes” is not too long.

Luther, Calvin, Swengli and Wesley all declared Mary the Mother of God because they hadn’t “gotten rid of their Catholicism,” even though Wesley was raised Anglican (his father was a minister) and Lutherans still believe it.
