JESUS THE CHRIST, by Apostle James E. Talmage is a doctrinal study on the life and ministry of Christ, and is considered by most Mormons as the authoritative treatise on Savior’s mission and message, compounding all scriptures in one on the various aspects of the life of our Redeemer.

You really should put an asterisk by the name Jesus to indicate you are talking about the Mormon Jesus.

There is no “Mormon Jesus” there is only one Christ, Savior and Redeemer. He lived 2000 years ago in mortality. He lives now, in glory, and watches over mankind. He will return again, hopefully soon, and reign as King of Kings upon the earth, the Savior of the world, to all people, not just “Mormons”.

Cheers.

Jesus is of one substance with the Father. Jesus* is some other being of light.

Caution: this thread has been labeled “ecumenic” which means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs. He can only argue for what he believes – or ask questions.

You are entitled to your opinion.

As for me, I will stick with what the bible and the early Church Fathers taught on the matter, not a creed given 400 years after Christ.

I suppose that goes for me too. Sorry to add to the change of direction.

It will take some time for posters to get used to the protocol for ecumenism.

Indeed. I do like the concept, thanks for making it available.

this thread has been labeled “ecumenic” which means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs.

I believe this thread has been labeled "LDS ecumenic".

I believe that "labeling" contentent as ecumenic is an attempt to "un-label" the content.

I believe that the task of promoting unity (as unlikely as that is) is not advanced by denominationalizing the un-label.

Your objections are noted but the responsibility of keeping the peace on the Religion Forum is mine, so the denominalization of an “ecumenic” thread is ok.

I agree with delacoert. I think the title ecumenic should be sufficient. By lableing the thread as also LDS, you are asking for us to bring preconcieved ideas into the thread.

It is not at all helpful IMHO.

There seems to be much “picking at nits” here. The first response to this thread wanted to make sure all knew there was a difference in LDS beliefs. Now, others want the LDS label removed. I’m not sure we can please everyone.

For the sake of sanity, would you mind placing LDS outside of the parenthesis to “keep the peace” as you say.

It can read like this.

LDS - (ecumenic thread)

All future posts that use ecumenic will have that distinction. Hope this helps.

I for one, don’t think I’m “nit-picking.” My intent was to clarify the way these ecumenical posts are going to work. Today is like the dry run, where we will all learn the rules.

As long as the Mod is fine with the way you posted, I am too. :-)

Thanks color. But in the future, I’ll try to avoid that confusion. Thanks for the heads up.

again, as with other "tagged" threads -can you obligate the thread poster to copy and paste the requirements of an ecumenical thread into post #1 ?

It is done with caucuses and others....and would certainly make your life easier

Until the Religion Forum posters get used to the "ecumenic" guidelines, please post the following warning in the comments section of your future "ecumenic" articles.

Caution: this thread has been labeled “ecumenic” which means the poster must not argue against any other beliefs. He can only argue for what he believes – or ask questions.
