I was thinking the other day about this "purpose" of ours as I was watching a commercial to encourage us to "talk to our leaders," and to dedicate our lives to "service to others."

And after all the feel-good images and music floating before my eyes and ears ended it occurred to me how wrong these two suggestions really are.

1) "Leaders?!?" Shouldn't that be "representatives?"

2) We're not called to live lives dedicated "to the service to others," but to the service of God alone, and in doing so, we then carry out His work and will to help "the least of these my brethren" in order to glorify God from whom all blessings flow.

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." -- 1 Corinthians 10:31

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." -- Colossians 3:17

Thus, as Alamo-Girl often reminds us, "to God belongs ALL the glory."

Come on. With Mother’s Day right around the corner you expect me not to talk to K or my mother? That would mean I’d have to take back the new Weed Wacker I got K for Mother’s Day. Maybe next week I’ll think about it but this Sunday I want to see the surprize on her face when she sees the big two stroke engine on that baby!

When we commit our work as unto the Lord, He will enable us to do what it is that HE has called us to do. We can get so involved in good things that keep us busy and totally miss the call of God for that situation.

Trouble is our leaders don’t lead. They follow the money and the self-interest groups and lobbyists. Grrrr.

Oh so very true. There is only one Great Commandment. When we love God surpassingly above all else, the second commandment - indeed, all the law and the prophets flow from His love.

Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying, Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. – Matthew 22:35-40

To God be the glory, not man, never man.
