I wouldn't put them in the same league at all. The Adventists have based their doctrine on their interpretation fo the KJV of the bible, although they have some Greek scholars, etc., to help with the translation into English.
What they are saddled with is Ellen G. White who they at least briefly elevated to the status of scripture and she said some truly nutty things.
They backed away from her over the past 30 years, but her influence is not gone, especially with the older members.
