The Westminster Confession of Faith
Chapter XXV
Paragraph VI:
There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ.[13] Nor can the Pope of Rome, in any sense, be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself, in the Church, against Christ and all that is called God.[14]

All in good time. It’s going to be awhile before we reach Chapter 25; why don’t you have a seat and order something?

It’s better to vent the hate right away, and each step along the way, so that it might be known and understood.
Sunlight is a superb disinfectant.

Interesting that the Presbyterians have a confession of faith that references the Catholic Church.
Alex - do you really believe the Pope is the Antichrist?

“Orthodox” Presbyterian. In the protestant world I would think that is a bit of a oxymoron considering that the heretical teachings of all protestant sects multiply and evolve over time.

I know of members who will neither admit nor deny they believe that paragraph.

I don't want to mug any Presbyterians. (Well, okay, maybe one or two, but not in general.)
I will always be grateful for Calvin because of his wonderfully fierce (sense of humor) and devotion to the Sovereignty of God.I know the average Calvinist will shake his head and say, "Wha'?" but it was, in a way, Calvin that brought me to Rome.
He does such a fine job of articulating and demonstrating how it is God, and God alone, who saves.
And it was contemplating the uselessness of me in the face of the Love of God that predominated in my thinking for a long time. And still does.
So we disagree about a few things. I've been wrong about stuff, and am I going to hate Calvin because I think He's wrong about stuff?
May God amend what can be amended and redeem what cannot, and may we all praise His redeeming power and love.

I've read your posts on other threads. While I disagree with you on many points including the efficacy of your tagline, this post is simply outstanding.
May God amend what can be amended and redeem what cannot, and may we all praise His redeeming power and love.
Indeed!
