Absolutely amazing facts re: the book of Mosiah's content as found in the Book of Mormon:

(A) From: A BIOLOGIST LOOKS AT THE BOOK OF MORMON by Dr. Thomas Key http://www.saintsalive.com/mormonism/biologist_looks.htm)

ZOOLOGICAL PROBLEMS "Neas" and "sheum" are mentioned in Mosiah 9:9 as two prominent and abundant plants. Yet, if they were so prominent and important, why are there no references to them in Old World literature, and why have they not survived?

Satyrs (2 Nephi 23:21) and dragons (2 Nephi 23:22,8:9) are mentioned as literal creatures. Chickens (3 Nephi 10:4-6) and dogs (Alma 16:10, Mosiah 12:2, and 3 Nephi 7:8) were non-existent here at the time.

(B)And, now for The "Top Seven" Absurdities from the Book of Mosiah:
(1) Mosiah translated the Jaredite plates by looking at stones in the bottom of a hat -- just like Joseph Smith did with the Book of Mormon! (Mosiah 28:13)
[Absolutely amazing!]
(2) A seer is someone who can translate things by looking at stones in the bottom of a hat. (Mosiah 28:16) [Wow! Deja vu! We have all been here before! We have all been here before!]
(3) Jesus is both the Father and the Son! (Mosiah 15:2-3)
(4) "And a fifth part of their ziff" Oh no! Zeniff made the people give up a fifth of the ziff! Now that would be hard to live with. (Mosiah 11:3)
(5) "King Noah built many elegant and spacious buildings" ornamented with gold, silver, iron, brass, copper, and ziff. Why is there no evidence for these fancy buildings? There were many of them, decorated with gold and silver. Where are they now? And the metallurgy technology for iron and brass didn't exist prior to European contact. But there was plenty of ziff around at the time so that wouldn't have been a problem. (Mosiah 11:8)
(6) "All this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon." (Mosiah 18:30)

(7) [The following is not "absurd," but plagiaristic]: "Yea, even doth not Isaiah say:" Joseph Smith adds another chapter from Isaiah (53) as filler. (Mosiah 14:1)

Mark Twain Roughing it Chapter 16:

The book [of Mormon] seems to be merely a prosy detail of imaginary history, with the Old Testament for a model; followed by a tedious plagiarism of the New Testament.

Mosiah Chapter 12 KJV plagiarisms:

12:21 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings; that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good; that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth; How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! -- Isaiah 52:7
12:22 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall bring again Zion; Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion. -- Isaiah 52:8
12:23 Break forth into joy; sing together ye waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem; Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem. -- Isaiah 52:9
12:24 The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God? The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. -- Isaiah 52:10

:

12:34 I am the Lord thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. -- Exodus 20:2
12:35 Thou shalt have no other God before me. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. -- Exodus 20:3
12:36 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, or things which are in the earth beneath. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. -- Exodus 20:4
