By the same token, I believe that Satan can do the same thing.

That is why the Church conducts an exhaustive investigation of an apparition to ensure it is not a hellish deception.

By the same token, when the Virgin Mary appears in a certain place, she addresses the seer in the local language or dialect. For example, Our Lady of Guadalupe spoke to Juan Diego in the Aztec language Nahuatl, while Our Lady of Lourdes spoke to Bernadette Soubirous in the local French Patois.

They have Rosetta Stone® in heaven??!!

How’d they know it was Mary and not Diana of the Ephesians?

JMO, but I don’t see Satan appearing as Mary to encourage devotion to God.

The net effect seems to be an increase in devotion to Mary.

the devil can do many things....he can convince Martin luther, calvin, Wesley et al that they should leave the true church.....he can convince Mohammed (sp) that he had received amessage from God’ probably from Lucifer rather than a real angel.....all in all, once Jesus had established His religion on earth, (Catholocism) what’s the point of trying to improve on it?????

I can only answer that the way Curly from the Three Stooges would:

“Oh, a wise guy!”

No matter when or where an apparition is, Mary’s message on behalf of her Divine Son is basically the one she uttered at the wedding feast in Cana: “Do whatever He tells you.”

It's all a bit hokey. All one needs to do is read the Bible to get the same message. And if apparitions were really important, why doesn't Jesus just appear Himself? After all, He did just that to the apostle Paul.

Some peasant girl gets her 15 minutes of fame the RC church has a new income source and control mechanism for the masses.

As for the part about not despising prophecies, I don’t despise true prophecies, which are the kind that Paul referred to in I Thess. 5:20, where he said, “Despise not prophesyings.” However, I do despise false prophecies, which the Bible condemns numerous times. The so-called “Marian apparitions” are in the category of false prophecies. God doesn’t speak through Mary. He speaks by Jesus and the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Bible, circumstances, and the church.

I agree with you. We don’t need apparitions to find God’s will for us. He tells us in His Word, the Bible.

That’s your interpretation.

It isn’t mine. Be at peace.

When did Jesus appear to Paul? On the road to Damascus, Paul was struck off his horse and he heard the voice of Jesus, but didn't see Him.

Looks like somebody needs to read their Bible :^)

14 And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.' 15 So I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 16 But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' (Acts 26)
I’m only going by Paul’s own account of Jesus’ Words.

Looks like somebody needs to read their Bible :^)

BTW, I don’t think there was a horse involved in the account. It simply says that Saul fell to the ground.

Glad to help.
