You misunderstand it.
It is still a monument whose place can never be taken away. I remember well when I was 12 and I had mistakenly picked up an RSV from which to read at Episcopal Morning Prayer in Advent, and Fr. John Warren (May he rest in peace) yanked my chain after the service.
One of the sad, sad things about this age is that people no longer speak English or know anything other than their own tawdry slang.
In 7th grade Latin we encountered the verb "laudo". I was 11 years old. I said to the teacher, "That just means 'laud.'" He, astonished, asked what I thought "laud" meant, and I said, "Praise." I learned it in Sunday worship, for crying out loud!
