The truly sad fact is that Phelps and his crew are honestly convinced that they are doing God's work on Earth, and that they will be rewarded by Him for having kept the faith. My own personal opinion is that when that moment comes, Fred and his clan are in for quite a let-down.

You are right. God is not mocked.
God loves all His identified and potential children. It is, therefore, wrong to point out individuals whom we think God hates. One never can tell when God might take a murdering Paul and turn him into an Apostle.
Phelps and Westboro are so wrong.
