Why did Jesus on the Cross say to John, “Behold your mother?”

Was John then bound to honour Mary as Christ did?

26-When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"

27-Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into (AS)his own household.

I think the real issue is who has MORE honor?

Jesus for Mary as his mother.

Or Mary for Jesus as Messiah
and HER SAVIOR of her sins.

Who does God the Father attribute more honor?
