That seems to be your hobby.
Ah. So Christ needs Mary in order to elevate Him to the Godhead.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death
even death on a cross!
2I can highly recommend a movie The Song Of Bernadette (1943) about the peasant girl Bernadettes visitation by Our Lady Of Lourdes.”
“Fatima,” narrated by Ricardo Montalban, is also very good.
Bingo.
As I say: appalling.
Photoshop, anyone?
“it just clicked. All of a sudden, this young man — this drug abuser, this runaway — “knew” what was happening, that what was transpiring was a “real” re-presentation of what had happened 2,000 years ago, and that it was being poured out again. “Time ceased,” he says. “I saw myself at Calvary with the faithful beholding the sacrifice of the lamb.” Everything about it captivated him. He felt the Presence of Christ — knew He was there — as the priest held up the “white circle.””
This is the same at Adoration. He speaks to your soul. Time ceases.
"Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry." -- 1 Corinthians 10:14
Postulate (which after all if just Latin for demand) that the Catholics are wrong. All data to the contrary will then be seen to need either outright denial or further interpretation in order to be admissible.
Under tis method, the guy was not not saved, he just slipped into an especially pernicious delusion. His amendment of life, his charity, his faith, all these are bogus, tools of the Evil One to deceive, if it were possible, even the elect.
It is simply not conceivable that we Catholics are not wrong. All else follows.
And in particular, the perseverative repetition of tired arguments and mischaracterizations, which may appear to be useless, is in fact done not only for the lurkers, as some have openly said, but also in the hopes that the water torture approach to conversion will finally destroy the opposition and save his soul.
Nuthin' but LOVE for you, baby.
Amen.
But in His merciful communication, He is not telling anyone they are "another Christ."
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things" -- Mark 13:21-23"And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, fly from the service of idols. 15 I speak as to wise men: judge ye yourselves what I say. 16 The chalice of benediction, which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread, which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord? --1 Corinthians 10:14-16
Oh, now I see why. LOL
You could have saved yourself a great deal of needless aggravation if you had expressed yourself thus:
"You Catholics are causing me a great deal of concern because you speak of Mary as having a mediating role. So, tell me: what do you mean by this? Do you mean that she is on a par with Jesus Christ as a mediator between God and Man? Or do you think, rather, that she has a limited, creaturely, dependent, and subordinate role of praying to God for others, just as all Christians offer intercessory prayers for others? Please explain."
You'd have gotten an answer along these lines:
"It's entirely the latter, dear Doctor. Mary, who is not a goddess but is rather, in her own words, a handmaid, prays for us to God."
And you might respond, "Thank you, I hoped that would be your explanation. Now, I want to dispute with you about how Mary prays... or when Mary prays... or for whom Mary prays..." (or whatever, making any objection you like, but not repeatedly accusing us of a meaning which was never intended on our part.)
That's the crux of it. Nobody minds the repeated restatement of your position. What we mind is the repeated misstatement of our position.
Your comments are always welcomed when they are fairminded and do not attribute to us wht we do not believe.
The "partaking of the body of the Lord" is indeed life. And we "partake" of His sacrifice every day, not in the blasphemy of the mass which sacrifices him daily, but in our remembrance of His one-time sacrifice on the cross for all the sins of His elect by the grace that God has given us.
Christianity is not cannibalism. Grace is not found in the material, but in the spiritual. Rome continues to shove the material world in our faces when Christ tells us the truth is spiritually-discerned.
Continue to read Paul. He explained the teaching earlier in the chapter...
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." -- 1 Corinthians 2:12-16"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
In one sentence fragment you both make Christ a liar and misrepresent Catholic belief.
Must be a day ending in 'y.'
You sure shot down that strawman with skill and daring.
I am aware you do not think you are commiting idolatry when you bow down to the stock of a tree and pray to someone other than the Triune God.
My responsibility only goes as far as preaching the Gospel in truth and love. By the grace of God alone, we will know when words and actions line up with Scripture and when they don't.
Hm, wasn’t he ALREADY God? Or did he become God after Mary bore him?
I'm sensing . . . . a paradox.
There is also a persistent, pernicious, pervasive misstatement of what we believe ... often to the point of reversing the meaning. And the misstatements are repeated in the face of repeated statements of what we actually do believe.
This goes beyond mere dishonest rhetoric. It is an outright slander of every Catholic, both individually and corporately.
Exodus 20:16
It's not just a good idea. It's THE LAW.
