Tsk, tsk. This is not the official position of the Church. The Church teaches that they (the Church) simply confirmed the inspiration of the scriptures. The Holy Scriptures were not the result of the Church.
What is really at issue is the Church no longer has any distinction between inspired writings and man-made writings. They will just as soon quote from Anselm or Thomas More as they will from John or Peter.
