Doug Pagitt, Rob Bell to Join Dali Lama, Desmond Tutu, UN at Interspiritual Event

dali.jpgIn one of the boldest moves yet in their promotion of New Spirituality, Doug Pagitt and Rob Bell are joining the Dali Lama, Desmond Tutu, and a whole line-up of New Spirituality proponents for the Seeds of Compassion Interspiritual Event in Seattle on April 15 to nurture “spirituality” in youth. Doug Pagitt says on his blog that he is “extremely excited” about the event. Rob Bell and Pagitt will be joining Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Episcopalians, Catholics and the United Nations (UNESCO) at this event. The reason that Pagitt is “extremely excited” about this New Spirituality celebration is that he believes that the Gospel is found in other world religions, and he told me so on my radio show.

Expect the emerging leaders like Bell, Pagitt, McLaren and others to become increasingly bold in their interspiritual alliances with New Age/New Spirituality proponents. The world, and the false church, is ready for it.

Apprising Ministries just posted this piece on the issue. Thank you, Ken Silva.

The Great Apostasy. I warned my son, who lives in Seattle. He is a maturing young man, solid in a sound faith in Christ. He likes the Dave Matthews band - which is providing music for this bash. We must test all things.

Certainly the Dali Lama is worth seeing in any event. It's been my good fortune to have seen him several times at Emory. He will probably teach some classes on meditation in addition to what ever duties he may have at this conference.

Enlightenment is within you.

Well, except that Doug Pagitt, Rob Bell, both self-proclaimed evangelical Christians, are also going there to admire and learn from him. As Christians we do not believe that there is truth in other religions.

Huh? So if another religion said the sky is blue as Christians we must say the sky is not blue?

tet86 said “Enlightenment is within you.”

DarkSavant said “So if another religion said the sky is blue as Christians we must say the sky is not blue?”

To each I say Demonic enlightenment is within each person born of the flesh. The creator God of Heaven and Earth is revealed in His creation so man would not be able to say “I didn’t know!” on judgment day. Your blue sky is such revelation.

The Truth that no religion can deliver is salvation and forgiveness of sins - which all people are born in desperate need of. Such redemption and eternal life (rather than eternal death) comes, not in religion, but in the man who is God and is the Lamb of God - the Lord Jesus Christ. His name is co-opted by many religions, but He stands apart from them and calls those whom He will save from the destruction to come.

This is speaking about worldviews and the working out of those worldviews. Certainly we can be friends with all kinds of people, and help anyone in need. But when it comes to spiritual endeavors and the seeking out of spiritual truth:

2 Cor 6:14
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
“Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
