My point is that rejecting the concept of the Trinity based on the fact that it doesn't appear in the text of the Bible is simplistic and silly.

Your saying it is silly doesn't make it silly. Simplistic? Understanding God ought to be simple so that a child can understand.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure the words "chair" or "bench" appear anywhere in the Bible, but I'm fairly certain Jesus sat on one during the last supper. Oops. There's another term not in the Bible. Must not have happened, right?

Custom was to sit or recline on pillows.

the notion of God being a triune entity existed much earlier on than you're willing to admit.

The Bible CLEARLY says that God is one and it does so in many places. But it NEVER says that God is three.

Cream is one band comprised of several individuals. They play different instruments, but Ginger Baker is no more or less "Cream" than Eric Clapton.

Huh? So now we launch into unBiblical explanations and analogies to explain an UnBiblical term? Figures.

If, as the Bible states, there is only one God, and that one God is comprised of three persons,

STOP RIGHT THERE....until you provide a scripture that clearly says that God is Three just as the Bible clearly says that God is One...the rest is horse hockey.

Examining the Bible from the perspective of there being One God who is one, who is spirit, who is invisible, who cannot lie, who cannot be tempted, who has never been seen by man and there being One Lord Jesus Christ who is a man, who is the visible representation of God, who was tempted, who lived, died and rosed from the dead, there are NO CONTRADICTIONS.

But to say that God is God but also God is Jesus and they are the same but they are different...well, that is just plain silly and lacks common sense!

I Corinthians 13:11 must really get under your skin.
