He was very gracious.
There were so many martyrs at the hands of the Nazis. Edith Stein, (St. Benedicta), and St. Maximillian Kolbe who offered himself in place of another when they were taken to starve to death.
He actually sang hymns of praise as the last to die. In fact, they finally injected him with carbolic acid because he wasn’t dying fast enough.
What witnesses! I know what a coward I am!

St. Maximillian Kolbe who offered himself in place of another when they were taken to starve to death. Of course it should be noted that "Saint" Kolbe did not offer himself up in place of a Jew, but a non-Jew, and that prior to his arrest, Kolbe was an antisemitic editor of an antisemitic Catholic journal.

I heard in a sermon which was quoted well know I believe English preacher connected to the academic circles of the day. During many of his sermons he would quote a man by name. None of the learned people of his congregation knew who this man wise and profound man was. Finely they ask him and he told the it was he gardener. Dose any one know who this precher was?
