I'm with you in that tithing is not just financial giving, but giving, in love to the Church, (especially volunteering, sunday school teacher, etc!) giving to and serving the needy, other charities!!

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. The Prosperity Gospel is a FALSE gospel being taught by many. How do I know????? Would the message of the prosperity gospel work in Africa? In China? In Fiji? God’s message should be available to the entire world. If you try telling a poor, starving human being in Africa that they just need to tithe more to reap blessings they would leave filled with more despair. Jesus Christ came to offer hope to those with none, and this hope doesn’t involve money.
As for Brother Hagin, he was scolding the others for taking his teaching out of context not repenting. Moreover, the WORD tells us we sin daily even when know not when we sin. Thanks to Christ Jesus for Grace ever flowing we are cleansed by His blood.

How you love does.. for Love IS sacrifice..

Yet titheing is not an investment its a sacrifice..

Is it that he repented, or that he tried to contextualize his message better? The article seems to be saying that he sought to correct misinterpretation and abuses of his teachings, not that he sought to change those teachings.
But couldn’t one of his followers claim a new “word of knowledge” disavowing all the Hagen Sr said in 2003?

Have you ever done a specific study of what the Bible says about tithes and offerings? It’s pretty much totally different from what almost all preachers and pastors preach about tithes and offerings.
Try it - you’ll be surprised and blessed when you discover the true purpose of tithes and offerings. I could tell you, but it’ll be much more satisfying if you discover it for yourself. Most of the decisive references will be in Deut 12 & 14.

In order to tithe you have to know the amount you are giving...
Left-hand, right-hand giving doesnt work for tithing...
10% is 10% ...
You cannot guess the amount...
However the extra that you give can be given that way...
you can just give an amount withyout looking at the amount...

After tithing the 10% of your increase, the gross of your wages, (before taxes)...
Pay your bills...God expects you to...

That, sadly, is the way most believers are - so convinced what they’ve been taught is the truth that they refuse to study the issue further.
I’ve given you part of the road map. A side trip is an understanding if what God means in Deut 12 & 14 when he refers to the place where God chooses to place his Name. That teaching is beautiful.
But the Church has so totally missed the purpose of tithes and offerings that it has put millions of believers in guilt-bondage to pastors and preachers, AND unscrupulous ‘ministries’ on TV and radio.
The truth will set you free.
