My Direct has been not hooked to phone for over 8 months and still works. I know this because my wife has me rearrange the living room every 3-4 months and I do not have a phone jack where the tv is now and the last 2 places. The last time we had to hook it to phone was when my kids pulled out the card and jacked up the programming. Once we called in and they did there thing I unhooked it again.
I cannot help but think they they can monitor a return wave but I am not an expert in that area.
Interesting, mine stopped working a while back when the phone line came unplugged and I wasn’t aware (not sure how long it was, but it couldn’t have been more than a month.) Maybe it involves the type of service.. (but this is for another thread, I know..)
Thanks.
If you’re not worried about black helicopters monitoring what TV shows you watch, you can buy a gadget that will connect to your box wirelessly—basically a cordless phone with a transmitter base at the phone jack and a receiver on your satellite box.
Mine has never been connected to the phone line and it has worked since day one. I bought the Direct equipment online and installed it myself. Worked like a charm until a tree branch fell on the dish. Direct sent me new dish free and it's back in working order again.
The only thing I don't like about TV whether it's comes through a dish, a cable, or an antenna, is that there is very little worth watching no matter how many dishes, cables, or antennas you have or how many channels you buy. I wouldn't trade the internet for all the TV channels on the frequency bands.
