Entirely self inflicted. The Church here in America jettisoned 2,000 years of tradition in favor of:
-liberal theology
-modern ‘art’ and ‘architecture’
-poor, no make that abysmal, teaching of the faith
-arrogant bishops who care more about personal status than their flock
-the lavender mafia in the seminaries
The last 30 years it hasn't been Catholics leaving the Church it has been the Church has left the Catholics. Those parishes that have conservative traditional priests are packed and those with liberal priests are not.
Sometimes I really despair when I read what the Council of Bishops come up with.
