The problem was, a lot of these kids married American citizens and ended up staying in the United States, depriving their home countries of their leadership skills and religious experience. This allows the talented youth of other nations to stay near their own families, marry within their own culture, and strengthen the part of the Church in that area of the world. It is a win-win situation.
