I, too, have seen the same thing in our parish and several others.

So sad and so destructive to the mission of the Church. Why would you not want to point to the Blessed Mother as the first follower of Jesus and as an excellent example of devotion?

On the good side I get to go to Latin Mass today so I'm sure that the Mother of Our Lord will be mentioned and honored there.

You can bet on that! I attend St. Francis de Sales here in St. Louis which is entirely dedicated to the Latin liturgy. Mary has it all there — May Procession, Perpetual Help Devotions, frequent recutations of the Rosary, novenas and, what is most happy for me, all the old hymns dedicated to Mary are an important part of the repetoire of our choir.
