AMEN! AMEN!
Of all the types of debate known to me, religious debate is the most hostile. Many argue as if their lives depended on it - and perhaps in the minds of some, it does.
But if a Christian's faith is strongly rooted, the statements of others have no power to shake it - not the spirit of anti-Christ, not atheists or agnostics - and certainly not a brother or sister in Christ.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. - I John 4:1-6
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
. . . the words of a song float through my consciousness . . .
. . . when will they ever learn . . .
and often enough
. . . when will we ever learn . . .
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." -- 1 John 5:9-13"If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
That's the group to join, and bring family and friends. I won't say "prayer works," but I will say when people pray miracles happen. I'll bet the "nut wing" has converted more than one priest.
Thank you. There is a serious case of twisted knickers among some who don't get Oriental and Catholic gestures of courtesy and consequently our outraged at J2P2 kissing a Koran.
To me, when Papa Ben XVI gives the Regensberg lecture, after that gesture of J2P2's, it is clear that this is not gratuitous insult but considered, thoughtful, deliberate, and firm disagreement.
So, yeah I'd think the nun martyred by Islamist wackos, and the Islamist wackos themselves would disagree with anyone wo sugested the Pope hadn't made clear the fundamental disagreement between us and them.
Here, let me lend you my Rosary. No, wait, I'm using it.
God can influence parishes just fine. And we know our part: prayer, worship, prayer, study, prayer, conversation, prayer, witness, prayer, works of mercy, prayer. Did I mention prayer? We should also pray a lot.
It was through little old ladies, mumbling and fumbling, that the Soviet empire was brought down. If some persistent little old ladies can be a part of that, bringing the clergy back to the full-bore, pedal-to-the-metal, ninety-to-nuthin', sho' 'nuff true religion shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Yours in Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and Dominic,
Uncle O'Remus.
And now a generic word from my ‘sponsor’/profession . . .
ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES are quite helpful when one applies one’s self earnestly to them and to their exerices, homework.
That’s an interesting issue I hadn’t considered before.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if the 3 Fatima gals received ET implants in their brains. That could explain a lot of things.
I agree, but don’t you think the Church itself should excommunicate people like Ted Kennedy and other so called Catholics who deny life and promote the homosexual lifestyle, both no-no’s?
Amen, Quix.
I read today that there is a great decrease in people coming to the priests for confession in the church. It was a news item I clicked on in my Yahoo server, I think. They feel they can go to other people to confess their sins (maybe because the Bible says to confess your sins to one another?). Interesting anyway.
I agree in part - but remember that we are to contend earnestly for the faith. THE faith, as in ONE true faith. So in the face of blashpemous doctrines that aren’t rooted in scripture, we are to speak the truth.
One can take the intent of your post very easily to the extreme of Ecumenism.
I agree with you about contending for the Biblical faith.
Thanks.
Jesus is not about to forsake me.
And, it seems that I still have lots of friends hereon.
But, thanks for the personal assertion that I’m Crazy. Much appreciate the added points to my account.
I understand that few people on FR have researched the UFO/ET phenomena as much as I have. Ignorance of the facts of the topic is a pretty common thing—especially on FR.
Nothing is AS HIGH, much less HIGHER than my Christian beliefs. Perhaps new glasses would help the perception problems.
