My girlfriend claims to be an atheist but I think she doubts the non existence of God.

The problem is this: Without the Holy Spirit indwelling us, none of us is capable of holding to the letter of the law.

It is only through the grace of God sent in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, that we are saved.

That is why Christian's moralistic values and principals can benefit everybody, even the Atheist.
