FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

It seems those who kick against the Church know they should be living those ordinances but love the ways of the world more.

That is YOUR opinion, nothing more, and MY opinion is that it is an uneducated, biased opinion to boot. However, it is a favorite theme in the "unofficial" shunning practiced by mormons against those who choose to leave the LDS church and the false doctrines of Joseph Smith. Shunned by the Mormon Church

This "shunning" can be seen every day on these threads, where accusations of bigotry and hate are substituted for reasonable debate on factual posts. There is quite often evidence of an attitude of superiority in these attacks.

MORMON
ATTITUDES OF SUPERIORITY

 1. I’m Superior; I have a special gift of the holy Ghost - you don’t!
 2. I’m Superior; I have God’s true priesthood power - you don’t!
 3. I’m Superior; I can go in God’s secret Temple - you can’t!
 4. I’m Superior; I’ve been Endowed with special Gifts and Knowledge - you’re just normal!
 5. I’m Superior; I’ll have my family with me in heaven - you’ll be with strangers!
 6. I’m Superior; I’m becoming a God - you aren’t!
 7. I’m Superior; My women know their place as servants of man and yours don’t.
 8. I’m Superior; YOUR creeds are wrong because they come from man - mine comes from God (you can find each one printed in our Scriptures).
 9. I’m Superior; I don’t HAVE a creed - I’ve got 13 Articles of Faith.
10. I’m Superior; I have four standard works and you only have one — in as far as it is translated correctly.
11. I’m Superior; I can lie with impunity about such things as church membership, church growth, church doctrine, church history, church influence, etc. — and you can’t.
12. I’m Superior; I am right (everybody knows) when I say 'evangelical' Christians are lunatics --
-- You’re a hideous narrow-minded bigot, who is persecuting me by practicing discrimination by saying I'm not  a Christian.
13. I’m Superior; I have a Living Prophet who talks to god every day — you have a dim-witted hireling of Satan who only talks to himself.
14. I’m Superior; I have magic underwear to protect me from the bogey man and you don’t.
15. I’m Superior; I have secret clasps and grips to give the angel so I get admitted to the celestial kingdom — you don’t so you can’t.
16. I’m Superior; I will see Joseph Smith setting on the right hand of GOD, when I get to Mormon heaven, and he will recognize me and judge me favorably —
-- You’re  on your own; when you get to wherever you’re going!
17. I’m Superior; I’m going to hie to Kolob while you’re going to who knows where.
18. I’m Superior; I get to have a harem and act like a celestial stud for time and all eternity and you don’t.
19. I’m Superior; I have sun stones, moon stones, sky stones, cloud stones, Saturn stones, and the evil eye of Osirus guarding my temple — all you have is a stupid cross.
20. I’m Superior; My church has billions in assets stashed away and yours has taken a stupid vow of poverty.

Agreed

accusations of bigotry and hate are substituted for reasonable debate on factual posts.

Agreed

Furthermore, JESUS told Christians to "Go and Tell":

Mark 16:15 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Matthew 28:19,

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (NIV)

Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (AMP)

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost... (KJV)

NOT going and telling the Gospel and the Truth would be to defy Christ's commands.

The Bible doesn’t mention the word “Trinity”, nor its concept either.

The term may not be in the bible, but the CONCEPT definitely is.

Speak for yourself,

Most of those who leave the Church it is because of life styles, the pleasure of the world to drink, or to have sex out of marriage, even SS, and so when they leave to justify themselves they spin the truth and should one point out their behavior that is not faairrrr, oh sure!

****

NOT going and telling the Gospel and the Truth would be to defy Christ’s commands.

Jesus also said dust your feet off with those who kick against the Church!

Of which church do you speak?

Concerning the "church," Scriptures state that the "church" is the body of believers, not a building or organization.

Please cite the sources upon which you rely to state that "most of those who leave" do so "because of life styles, the pleasure of the world to drink, or to have sex out of marriage, even SS (what is that?)"

"They spin the truth." Of what "truth" do you claim they "spin"?

Of which "behavior" do you claim is "not faairrrr" and upon what basis do you make that claim?

Jesus also said dust your feet off with those who kick against the Church!

Please cite the Scriptures wherein it states that Jesus said to "dust your feet off with those who kick against the Church."

You would really LIKE for that to be true...it is not. Some of us are simply intelligent enough to be able to see the truth when we study and pray.

Jesus also said dust your feet off with those who kick against the Church!

Jesus didn't say to attribute motives to others and he WASN'T talking about the mormon church, he was talking about GOD'S church.

Re. The Bible doesn’t mention the word “Trinity”

The Bible doesn't mention many other theological terms, but that does not meant these terms are not biblical.

For centuries, Christians have coined terms which summarize and/or explain certain biblical concepts. The word Trinity is one example. You can find several others by examining a good glossary of Christian terms, such as the one found HERE.

Re. The Bible doesn't mention the concept of the Trinity either.

The doctrine of the Trinity is found in numerous places throughout scripture. The teaching is so unequivocal every Christian denomination, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox, accepts the Trinity as a fundamental tenet.

There are many excellent references which address this topic. I recommend you start HERE.

Re. This doctrine was enacted by church leaders 200 years after the death of Christ at the Council of Nicea.

This doctrine was proclaimed by the Bible centuries before the birth of Christ. It was taught and affirmed throughout the New Testament. It was practiced by the Body of Christ 200 years prior to the Council of Nicea.

Re. Yet most churches consider it Gospel.

According to every Christian sect, the term Gospel refers to the first four books of the New Testament.

As noted above, every Christian sect supports the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.

Oh boloney it is a fact there are many out there living a moral loving life who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Day in and day out these threads run 24/7 with the mainstream wraths, strifes, backbiting, whisperings, swellings, tumults faultfinding about another faith!

As long as I can remember the LDS could never have a civil conversation that someone from the mainstream did not think it was their mission to muddy the water.

If that did not work, than some one will bring up x Mormons, which leads another to reply why the X-er’s left and when it was pointed out why most left, it was called being judgmental, instead of it being recognized that was a response to those who was slamming the Church in the first place.

I know people who left and the Church don’t bother them, unless those who left continue to bother the Church, and even than the Church very seldom gets involved.

In the Lord Church are anoint servants who have a responsibility and when someone leaves that all i’s dotted, and t’s been cross, meaning they are sure that is what they want to do, after that there is no more need for contact on religious basis.(being the fact that in some cases might be family or friends)

As a member there is no need to bother that person about religion, but should a member be among a crowd where some one intentionally brings up the Church to bad mouth I think that person might be called on it.

So if one say the Church won’t leave them alone there are two sides to that story.

The Church tries very hard to be good neighbors and that includes those who left.

I think it is fair to say when someone really leaves the Chruch they leave it alone.

I left the Presbtertian Church over 44 years ago for disappointing reasons but I have never started a web site and pound on them!
