“the Catholic Church is not immune to the New Age Movement”

The Catholic Church is immune.

Individual Catholic church’s who do not follow the teachings of the Catholic Church can fall into this snare . I have seen it where a few individual churches have offered yoga etc..

It is up to those of us in the Church militant to bring it to their attention that they are not following the Church’s teaching. If they disregard it we must be ready to take the abuse to the Diocese or even higher if necessary to force them to stop .

The protestant communities do not have a system to stop the spread of the NAM.

When its brought to their attention what sometimes ends up happening is their communities continue to divide amongst themselves.

Case in point..Rick Warren ,Robert Schuller and other popular protestant communities are New Agers are separated from what you might practice

An individual Catholic church can be easily shown things such as the document I provided from the Vatican to show their error

CHURCHIANITY

and/or

CHURCHOLATRY

will not save one subatomic particle worth of one of your hairs . . . nor anyone else’s.

That would be true EVEN IF the RELIGIOUS EDIFICE concerned were mostly right—which the RC edifice is not.

May God bless you with His loving peace and guidance, dear stfassisi.

You have a very, very, very strong faith in your church.

At bottom, our reaction to the kinds of issues we are discussing here – more specifically your counter-claim that the Catholic Church is indeed immune to the New Age Movement – always turns on our answer to the question:

"Who do you believe?"

Which is also to say, who do you trust?

As I have said before on this thread, those who believe Joseph Smith need to understand what that means. Ditto for those who believe Mohammed. Ditto, L. Ron Hubbard. Ditto, David Koresh. Ditto, Jim Jones. Ditto, Applewhite. And so on.

And ditto for those of you who believe the dogma and doctrine and liturgy and sacraments of the physical or visible Catholic/Orthodox Church - or LDS or whatever - as it has been handed down over the years.

But that is not the Way God has chosen for me. I do not see any of above as immune to corruption; I see no infallibility or invincibility outside of God. The Gates of Hell will not prevail against the body of Christ. And the church consists of the elect born in the Spirit, the body of Christ, all of those to whom God has revealed that Jesus Christ is Lord. Peter was the first of many, like Abraham, a rock. But God is The Rock. And Jesus is the head of the church.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. – Matthew 16:16-18

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. - I Corinthians 12:3

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. – John 6:44

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. – John 1:12-13

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock [whence] ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit [whence] ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah [that] bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. – Isaiah 51:1-2

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. [He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he. – Deuteronomy 32:1-4

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. – 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven.– Colossians 1:15-20

Evidently you believe with all your heart that the Catholic Church is the one and only holy, apostolic, body of believers. If so, then for you, the Catholic Church is not a broken cistern – but indeed has the sole power to impart the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of confirmation.

I of course strongly disagree that any entity has power over God and point to the conversion of Cornelius, that they received the Holy Spirit before being baptized, before Peter laid his hands on them and even before he had finished speaking to them the Gospel of Jesus Christ:

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? – Acts 10:44-47

And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as [he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? – Acts 11:15-17

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. – Acts 15:1

To me, all of the doctrines and traditions of men – all of them across the board - are broken cisterns that can hold no water. The Holy Spirit is the Living Water.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. – Jeremiah 2:13

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) – John 7:38-39

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. – I Corinthians 12:13

So may God bless you in your walk both in this life and in the one to come.

My path is to love God and believe and trust Him. Only Him.

To God be the glory, not man, never man.
