Papist is still applicable. Romanists is a broader term that encompasses all the idolatries such as Papism, Mariology, the Mass, worshipping of Saints, etc.

Who believes that? Can you cite a specific reference, from an authoritative source that echos that statement? If you're referring to the concept of the magesteriem, I would remind you that "who hears you hears Me".
