9:15
And for this cause he (Jesus) is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

For a supposed lawyer, you ask really stupid questions and expose your agenda too easily.

Dang!

You've noticed TOO?

What I am saying is that Christ did not personally convert many people, not even CLOSE to what his disciples did AFTER he was gone.

Do you dispute that?

>Jesus tore the veil from bottom to top with His death on the cross, you Smithians by claiming that Joseph Smith stands between men and Jesus, put it back up. Unless of course, you believe Smith is Jesus, which Christians do not believe.

The LDS Church does not teach that Smith stands between man and Christ.

You misrepresent LDS doctrine. The LDS Church teaches that no man can be saved absent Jesus Christ. He is THE way, not just A way.

In your view, what is this “eternal inheritance”?

That is evidence of religious bigotry.

In Mormon eyes only.

So you are saying....that Jesus Christ doesn't personally witness to anyone now?

We believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings, but one in purpose.

With TWO separate BODIES.

“You feel offended because the LDS faith is that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church. Right?”

Not exactly.
I am perplexed that members of the LDS church would insist on being called a certain lable by christians - whey THEY KNOW the beliefs are incompatible.

I would be similarly perplexed by someone who would walk into an LDS church and insist on being called a mormon even though they reject the teachings of Joseph Smith.

Christians cannot recognize another version of “God” and “Jesus”.
It is asking them to turn their back on God.

“So basically, we believe that those who DON’T accept the LDS faith will get everything that they want anyway. And what we DO believe we will get you guys don’t believe in anyway.

Meanwhile, several Christian sects teach that Mormons are going to Hell.”

What you teach about who is going where isn’t really the issue.
Your definition of God is different, and your definition of Jesus is different.
Christians simply cannot overlook this.

“And why do you care about receiving what the LDS teach is possible, when you don’t believe in it anyway”

I’m not sure the meaning of this question.

“Why should YOU be offended that the LDS Church does not recognize yours?”

It isn’t that I’m offended - I am simply perpelexed at the seeming hypocricy.
Christians are regularly being called insensitive bigots for daring to recognize valid differences.
And yet mormons ALSO will not recognize other self-proclaimd mormons.
Mormons reject christian doctrine, but complain they aren’t recognized by those same churches as “christian.”

The LDS Church does not teach that Smith stands between man and Christ.

That's not what your mormon prophet Mr. Brigham Young said........

How can THAT be?

Joseph Smith holds the keys of this last dispensation, and is now engaged behind the vail in the great work of the last days. I can tell our beloved brother Christians who have slain the Prophets and butchered and otherwise caused the death of thousands of Latter-day Saints, the priests who have thanked God in their prayers and thanksgiving from the pulpit that we have been plundered, driven, and slain, and the deacons under the pulpit, and their brethren and sisters in their closets, who have thanked God, thinking that the Latter-day Saints were wasted away, something that no doubt will mortify them—something that, to say the least, is a matter of deep regret to them—namely, that no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.

- Mormon Prophet- Brigham Young

What will FReepers say when someone points out the fact that Jesus picked a tax collector as one of his Apostles as well?

KJV 2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

But what do we believe about the other churches (including other Christian sects)?

Tort Jesus Christ's Church is more gracious than what others sects, teach because unless they the SOP they will be saved in one of the many of Heavenly Father's mansions!

You nailed, for me, the definition of a cult by certain Christians

Would you rather be told you were in a CULT of following ABOMINATIONS??

“No. Let’s redescribe it. How would YOU feel if someone claimed that YOU were not Christian when YOU personally believed that Christ was your Savior, the Redeemer of Israel, the Promised Messiah, and the Only Begotten Son of God. That Christ has paid for the sins of the entire earth?”

The central issue is “are we talking about the same God? The same Jesus”?
The answer is...no we are not.

“If you DIDN’T believe in Christ, who cares if someone claims you aren’t Christian. But BECAUSE you believe in Christ, it’s extremely offensive that someone denigrates your belief.”

You can go in circles all you want. Mormons and christians do not have the same definition of who God is.
You can “believe” in whatever God you want..you can call him by any name you want...that you call your God by the same name as ours does not make you a “christian” according to what CHRISTIANS define Him as.
You are asking christians to ignore their own God - to ignore who we believe He IS.

“I don’t tear down your faith, and claim that your belief in Christ is false. So why tear down mine?”

I never said your belief is false, I am saying we don’t worship the same God.
Big difference.
