His statements say otherwise. Can you read his mind?

No I can read his posts. You say my posts are saying all kinds of things they're not too and you're completely denying what yours say, so my impression of your interpretation of Manfred's posts is suffering great damage.

***when she is only the mother of Jesus Christ***

Is Jesus Christ God, or not?

Answer me this: When was Jesus not God?

Was He God before he was born of a woman and then He became man while in the womb and before resurrection and then became God again?

What is your theology on this?

Yes, he is. But in saying “mother of God” when people are insisting that she was the mother of him in godly form as well as human form, and when there is much confusion on the trinity, “Mother of God” allows too much further confusion.

I just answered the post above yours which may answer your question.

Yes Jesus is the eternal Word of God John 1:1 who is God himself. I don’t have a problem with “mother of the Lord Jesus” or anything but I balk at “mother of God” simply because of the confusion on the trinity that exists, coupled with the high status of Mary which I believe is unscriptural. She was a faithful vessel which the Lord fashioned for his own purposes. NO different than any other faithful servant of God, even though she had a unique position in history and was selected for a privilege the likes of which no one else will ever have.

She cannot save anyone. Praying to her instead of the mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus (wait a minute... isn’t Jesus God?? :-) tells Christ his atonement wasn’t good enough or efficacious enough to give us access to the throne and the mercy seat.

And she was not the mother of his Godly form. his Godly form existed from eternity.

You are still separating Jesus, calling Him “godly form” and “human form.” This was the error of the Nestorians. You can’t separate the natures!

The phrase “Mother of God” is designed to tell us more about Jesus than about Mary. If she is the “Mother of God,” then Jesus, in the flesh, is God. The actual Greek word “Theotokos” literally means “God-bearer” as she bore God in her womb. Hence, she was not just the mother of a human being, but of God made Incarnate. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14a

What is the confusion on the Doctrine of the Trinity?

LOL, you are saying that you disagree because it is too confusing. Do you have any idea why Catholics call Mary the Mother of God? It was to clarify the confusion back in the days when there were few Bibles and books. It was to show and teach that Jesus was ALL God and All human. That Jesus was always God, He didn’t leave behind His Divine nature when he came to earth but he WAS truly human as well as Divine.

“NO different than any other faithful servant of God,”

That is why we respect her immensely. She was a human, just like us but she chose to say “yes” to God. She chose to bear the Son of God. She chose to raise Him under the law. She accepted the Grace of God and because of that Grace, we believe that she is in heaven living in perfection with God. By example of Mary, we know that we too can join God in paradise by saying “yes” to God.

All the good that Mary ever did came from God, not Mary but Mary cooperated with God. Mary is the extreme example of complete obedience to God, of complete love, of complete sacrifice. She became the willing servant even though she had been forewarned. She contended with the prejudices of an unmarried pregnant woman, she raised her son, the Son of God, as her child under the law. She followed His ministry even to the Cross where she had to reach deep for that trust in God. She saw the resurrected Christ and she was there at Pentacost at the beginning of the Church.

Yes, we respect her. Yes, we understand that she was “only” a human being, just like you and I but we also know that she had an abundance of the Grace of God. That she is our extreme example of a Christian and led the way that we should follow and imitate.

Jesus was never not God so Mary was extremely graced to carry the God in her womb.
