Like what, how to cover up pastoral sexual abuse cases?

“Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Sexual Abuse of Children by Protestant Ministers

Pathetic.

I think God would be pleased if someone said that about me, and pretty much any of His followers.

Check Moreland's bio. He's an egghead in egghead land....

And your point is what?

... just because you or I read God’s Word and come to a wrong conclusion, does not mean God’s Word is wrong and we are right.

Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible?  No.  The word "truth" is used several times in the New Testament.  However, the plural version of the word "truth" never appears in Scripture.  Therefore, there can only be one Truth.  So how can there be over 20,000 non-Catholic Christian denominations all claiming to have the "Truth" (i.e., the correct interpretation of the Bible)?

If one were to put two persons of the "same" non-Catholic Christian denomination (i.e., two Presybterians, two Lutherans, two Baptists, etc.) in separate rooms with a Bible and a notepad and ask them to write down their "interpretation" of the Bible, passage for passage, shouldn't they then produce the exact same interpretation?  If guided by the Holy Spirit as Scripture states, the answer should be "Yes."  But would that really happen?  History has shown that the answer is "No."  Now, in the case of Catholics, the Church which Christ founded and is with forever (Matthew 28:20) interprets the Bible, as guided by the Holy Spirit, (Mark 13:11) for the "sheep" (the faithful).  The Church (not individuals) interpret Scripture.  In Catholicism, Scripture is there for meditation, prayer and inspiration, not for individual interpretation to formulate doctrine or dogma.

Furthermore, according to Scripture private interpretation of the Bible is not condoned in the Bible. (2 Peter 1:20)

saying I’m “over-committed” to the Bible is like saying a fish is over-committed to water.

Amen

this is the key:

Christ gives Himself to us through the Eucharist. And thus as I uncovered **church history, holy scripture, and the teachings of the early church**-— mandated by Christ, I like so many have become catholic.

there it is, the famous ‘three legged stool’

they stand together, remove any of them, and you lose your balance.

I found this commentary about the situation:

“He suggests evangelicals should pay more attention to dreams, visions, and human philosophy–especially to Catholic insights in these areas. That seems to be the tenor of the talk: leave sola Scriptura in favor of the Catholic teaching on revelation and tradition.”

Sounds like more emerging church heresy, leading people to mysticism and new age crapola! Beware the emerging church!

Christians can't "screw up" simply because the power to quicken the heart isn't in our control.

Yeah, well, that's the theory. The reality is much different -- And that, too, is Moreland's point. I know a lot of kids who have been pushed away from Christianity by Evangelicals who make it look bad.

Strange thing is, Catholicism would do well to do the exact opposite and lean more on Scripture and not less.

If you can’t show me where it is in the Bible, don’t expect me to say it’s ok.

ME, the bible, church and tradition, has always been preached by the roman church, centuries before the anglican split....

so, they may adhere to it in some form...but, the idea isnt soley theirs....
