"God will not give you more than you can bear."

That refers to one of my favorite veres from the Bible...

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." -- 1 Corinthians 10:13

Nothing sanctimonious about it. In fact, Paul says all men are tempted. It's the human condition. But God does not leave us defenseless.

I take enormous comfort in Paul’s own descriptions of his “harrassing demon” (2 Cor 12) when I stress under the weight of my own besetting sins.

Praise God for his faithfulness to wretched and vile sinners as us!
