Claud, I have been watching this thread with interest and sadness. I am a Lutheran, trying to be a Christian. I see in you a Roman Catholic, also trying hard to be a Christian. I believe that the various churches, yes including the Roman Catholic Church, as states of man, while Christianity is the Jesus Christ-inspired state of the heart.

I am very distressed to see that while there are 1.5 billion members of a hostile cult wishing nothing less than our deaths, we seem to believe it is more important for Christians to fight Christians. As Benjamin Franklin said after he signed the Declaration of Independence, "We must all hang together or we will surely hang separately!"

Nothing wrong with debate now and again—even a spirited one. But charity, charity, charity must animate all of it.

If we all approach closer to Christ, we will all approach closer to each other. Unity is simply not possible outside of Him.
