Mormon ousted as an apostate
East Valley Tribune—Phoenix, AZ, MSNBC ^ | Sept 23, 2007 | Lawn Griffiths

Posted on 09/24/2007 8:16:13 AM PDT by colorcountry

Being excommunicated for apostasy by the Mormon church is one thing, but Lyndon Lamborn is livid that his stake president has ordered bishops in eight Mesa wards to take the rare step of announcing disciplinary action against him to church members today. "I thought if he could go public, so can I," said Lamborn, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who said his research into church history gave him "thousands of reasons the church can't be what it claims to be."

Stake President R. James Molina acknowledged Friday he intends to have Lamborn's excommunication announced to the wards at men's priesthood meetings and womens Relief Society gatherings, even with Lamborn now taking his case public. Molina, as well as officials at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, call such a public warning about an ousted member extremely rare. They say, however, church members must be protected from what discordant ex-followers may say to damage the church...................

Murder. Child abuse. Adultery. Homosexuality. Apostacy.

I did understand them.

It isn’t my fault you cannot come up with better examples to back up your fallacy in reasoning.

Would this count as child abuse?

Taylor ultimately chose not to be sealed to a new "forever" father, and sat outside the temple while his mother, stepfather and half-siblings were joined inside.

Eleven-year-old Taylor, for example, was forced to decide if he would be "sealed" to his mother and new stepfather for all time in a Mormon ceremony, something his father - who would retain legal rights - opposed.

Sounds damned emotionally abusive to leave an eleven-year-old sitting outside. What a heartless act!

"That was two years ago. Today, his mother and stepfather are divorced, and Taylor wants little to do with the LDS Church." Welll..DUH!

It's difficult for me to even imagine a mother that would put her child through something like this at that age. Where is the condemnation for her action?

Someone on this forum stated that no longer were people left "sitting outside the temple." This was two years ago, according to the article, so has the practice been changed since then?

murder is an unpardonable sin!

Christ's blood is sufficient to clean away ALL sin. Not just the ones you find the least repugnant. There are murderers who have repented and been saved by the grace of God.

In my own church one Sunday there was a woman from the community who came to visit. She had recently murdered her husband in self-defense. He was emotionally and physically abusive to her for a long time. And one night during a violent outburst she had to kill him to save her own life.

She was sorry for her act. She even had the courage to apologize to the community. And I know without a doubt that when she spoke to God and explained how sorry she was for what she had done, He forgave her.

My mother remarried when my eldest half-brother was eleven.

My birth father wanted to adopt my mother’s three children from her previous married.

My half-brother met his birth father for lunch and asked him, “Do you approve of my step-father adopting me?”

His birth father told him yes.

And my half-brother said, “This is not your choice to make. I am still your son, and I always will be. You cannot erase your presence from my life. I am yours.”

The adoption question was never brought up again. And I understand my half-brother’s point. We only get one birth father in this world, and for many children they need to hold onto that attachment, even after divorce and remarriage.

What a mature decision by a young boy.

Your sentence was self-contradictory ... you mention David, whom we know was a man after God’s own heart and whom God blessed after the Uriah sin, yet you say murder is an unpardonable sin. Do you even know what is the contradiction in your own post? Has anyone ever explained to you the washing of regeneration (the cleansing which IS salvation so the Holy Spirit can come into your human spirit for the rest of your life in the flesh) and transformation (living by faithing thus fulfilling the Law of God) by the indwelling Holy Spirit, rather than by ‘all that you can do’? Freepmail me, Resty, and I’ll explain in simple, easy to understand words, then you can know Him the Hope of Glory.

... so... apparently, you have no references to the
non-Biblical terms you are throwing around here as
if they were Biblical truth??

"What a heartless act!"

Trust me, there are many "heartless acts" happening each and every day with this group and they merely stare at you and say something like, "Well, Christ chooses whomever He pleases and not everyone is included."

Polygamy tends to relegate women to simply being property. As that one Mormon elder or prophet said, “I think no more of taking another wife than I do of buying another cow.”

Please if you are going to make statements like that give the source and from where and who made the quoted!

I could not be ready to receive a witness from the Holy Spirit if I saw every thing in the world through jaded eyes either

A great quote from Brigham Young on page 281.

“We shall pull the wool over the eyes of the American people and make them swallow Mormonism, polygamy and all.”

What a maroon! LOL.

I am not talking about self defense why do you always take things out of context this woman has knowledge on some level but from an LDS Point view she was not converted by the Holy Spirit.

Meaning a complete knowledge of the light, Many LDS have not even received a complete knowledge of the light!

But even so in her case it was self defense not premeditated

Did you happen to see the quote at the heading of Chapter Nine?...

"I combat the error of the ages;... I solve mathematical problems of universities, with truth--diamond truth; and God is my 'right hand man'" Joseph Smith/History of the Church

Apparently Smith lived by the saw, "If you're going to be a be a heretic, be a bold one so some will follow you to hell itself, paying their way for your leadership ..."

That comes from an editorial of the NYT 1911 34 years after the death of BY.
