The priest who said Mass this morning talked about how the brutality of the actual Passion and Crucifixion was and how reminders of it today offend our modern delicate sensibilities. We have to be reminded constantly what death is, what it looks like and how Jesus died for us. Monsignor also said that it wasn't just a death or an execution, but an attempt to completely discredit Christ and all he taught and stood for. We must be reminded that the Cross and what happened on it wasn't just "taking one for the team." It was brutal and in that brutality, that death, on that cross, Christ triumphed. The sacrifice was complete. Death was defeated.
It was really rather moving.
Sounds like a powerful sermon!
