Is Reuben Armstrong related to the late Herbert Armstrong or his son, Garner Ted Armstrong?

Looks like some people are finally exposing Churchanity. I just hope the exposers aren’t just another form of Churchanity exposing others for their own profit.

Joel Osteen took over from his father. Went from a Spirit-filled straight-forward ministry to a feel-good ministry. That’s what people want to hear, and that’s why he fills the old basketball arena in Houston.

You can gripe about any pastor that doesn’t believe like you do, calling them “snakes in the pulpit”. Doesn’t mean you’re any more right than they are.

Hmmm....I wonder if this snake will keep the millions he is trying to make off of bashing religious leaders?

If more people knew about Rueben Armstrong, someone would write a book calling him a snake.

I remember a lot of good books by John Osteen, TL Osborne, etc.

I don’t watch Joel Osteen, but I wouldn’t call him a heretic.

And personally, I don’t have a problem with a church that makes you feel good. I grew up in one whose mission statement seemed to be the opposite.

I don’t think that Rueben Armstrong has much of a right to complain about “feel good” ministers. Here is some text from his webpage:

‘pubicity stunt’?

Why would I want to say that?

Thanks for the link and quotes.. it seems Armstrong subscribes to the religion of Churchanity as much as those he accuses..

these four "pulpit pimps",

Only four? What about Rick Warren? Benny Hinn? Almost all TV "preachers" look like snakes to me.

The rise in "churchanity" has turned me 180 degrees away from Christianity along with thousands of others sick of explaining that those TV preachers do not represent Christianity.

Perhaps they do now.

Just making people feel good doesn’t make someone a good pastor.

****TD Jakes, Eddie Long, Creflo Dollar, and Joel Osteen****

Of these 4 Eddie Long is about the only one I can stand to listen to.

USA does have some snakes in the pulpit, yes, indeed.

It is easy to criticize people from afar - How about letting the people in those churches decide if they are “snakes.” Surely with churches as big as these, there will be a large percentage of strong, able, discerning leaders.

LOL!! Maybe if he had included Jim Bakker and Jessica Hahn.

What I can’t figure out is, how are these the top 4 “mega” whatevers? Did the Pope drop to #5? This guy needs a fact-checker for his press-releases.

Wrong on the discerning part. Many of these churches are large because the congregation never hears about Hell, sin, or salvation through repentance. They are nothing more than a Sunday morning social club. The real problem is that not many would recognize truth these days.
