After Mass, Shannon asked those who came to seek the healing touch of Suarez to line up across the altar while “catchers” stood behind to assist those who would “rest in the spirit” during the healing process. Small mattresses were also prepared to cushion falls. The “resting in the spirit” is when those healed fall, as if in a fainting spell -- a scenario often seen in similar healing sessions. The fall is called “resting in the spirit” because it is at this point that people experience and feel the conversion brought about by God’s healing grace, according to Shannon.

Is that anything like slain in the Spirit? If so I wonder if mattresses are Biblical or should they just use an assistant to catch the those who are slain, like Benny does?

Do you believe someone could be touched (as by the man in this article) and fall down? Is all of it fake?

I went to a church once where a “healer” was and tried it. I wanted to feel what others did. Everyone around me fell down. My friend and I didn’t. I know some would fake it, some are open to suggestion, etc. but could all of them have fallen into those categories? These were nice, hard working, upstanding people in the community. Not backwoods, illiterates.

What do you think?

That’s just done for insurance purposes here in our litigation crazy society. Around the world, usually people just fall.

hahha, ok, we attended a church for a while where people were slain in the Spirit, commonly, at prayer time after the service. I have no problem with this. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

However, this guy was a bit overbearing and I already did not like him. I went up for prayer. He prayed for me and PUSHED my forehead. I locked my knees and resisted. He got SO MAD at me. hahahah.

I think this priest in the article is doing the Lord’s bidding. Look how he links it always back to the Lord’s presence in the Eucharist. It is definitely NOT about the man; he only considers himself a vehicle for the Lord.

My problem with this is I can’t put my finger on where this is in Scripture. (And I may be wrong on that.) If it’s not in Scripture, it’s unbiblical...

Just my 0.02 cents.

Just my 0.02 cents.

I hate to say it doesn't happen simply because it didn't happen to me but if it doesn't - then I have to believe there are many, many, liars out there.

I first saw this type of thing on television when I was a little girl. I believe the evangelist name was Katheryn Kuhlman? She touched a woman who fell to the ground and I was really impressed but then I noticed the woman on the ground, in a state of ecstasy, adjusted the wig she was wearing......I've had a hard time with it since then.

So....I'll add my .02 to your .02 and say I don't think it's scriptural either, it may or may not happen but it isn't Biblical.

Oh, I’m not denying it happens.

WHY is the question.

WHY is the question.

That was very cryptic. Why do you think it happens?

Something's missing.

Surely he molests them after he heals them or empties their pockets after they pass out.

Did you post the whole article?

It’s real! It has happened to me many times. The 1st time
(before i became Catholic), i was a big sceptic. When i
stood before the priest, he barely touched my forehead,
i went over like a tree and i laid unable to move for
over 20 minutes. Oh yeah, it’s real.

Wasn’t meant to be cryptic.

Since this is clearly not a phenomena found anywhere in Scripture it must be assumed not to be of God.

So what is it:

a. Hysteria
b. Of Satan
c. All of the above

When you read someone like post #13 it makes it credible. When you watch the Benny Hinn video in post #7 it is laughable.

As it isn't mentioned scripturally the choices you listed are really interesting. As Satan can possess a body he could cause a reaction like that. But for what purpose?

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

He died. Do you believe that this is a form of the same thing or are you just making fun of it?

I was just thinking about this bloodless operation they do in the Philippines where they remove a tumor from your liver and you go home the same day. It’s kind of cool: they can just reach inside your skin, pinch off the tumor, and the skin seals immediately. Philippines, for sure.

Oops.

Well, maybe it's something we shouldn't do on an empty stomach.
