July 30 Roundtable (former Pentecostals)
For those who follow the program.
Will watch as usual. Let me know if you want to post the stream link and discuss.
I’ve become a regular viewer of this show, last week’s guest had an amazing story.
Wasn't he awesome! I laughed until I cried with his depictions, especially the first vocations director with whom he met. "After hearing my story, his face resembled that of cro-magnon man." Lol! And what about his postcard campaign. He looked over the returns for anything that had a marian title. Those he placed in one pile and discarded the rest. Two marian titles got a double check until he stumbled upon one with 3 marian titles. That one registered as "Cha-ching!"
I can list on one hand the number of guest that have left me awestruck - Doug Gonzales (former Nazarene), the Canadian kid who lived to ride his Harley and sold drugs to support his habit (now a priest in the Ruthenian Catholic Church), the Indian who went to study in Canada, was converted and became Catholic priest (his Hindu family purchased the chalice he most wanted for his Ordination. They understood nothing about the Catholic faith but went to great personal expense to provide their relative with that chalice and flew in from India to be a part of the most special day in his life.) Roy Schoeman, the Jew, who was sucked into Heaven while walking along a beach in Cape Cod and spent one year asking God to reveal His true name. (Then one year to the day that this extraordinary experience occured, after repeating this daily prayer, he fell asleep [but was not truly asleep] and was escorted to a room to meet the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He recognized her as Mary, the mother of Jesus and wished he knew the words to the Hail Mary so he could greet her in the manner to which she deserved.
All of his guests recount amazing stories but the ones I just cited, stand out from the rest. Doug Gonzales, btw, lost his wife and children as a result of his conversion. This has not stopped him from openly proclaiming the truths of the Catholic Church. What a price to pay! And, speaking of prices, what about the conversion of Alex Jones, a former Evangelical minister. Who will ever forget him describing how he approached the priest the day before his reception into the Church, asking if he could receive his First Eucharist, on his knees! Not only did he come into the Church, but he brought a large portion of his congregation with him. Sadly, his mother chose not to join them.
Pastor and Flock Convert to Catholicism
Thank you Marcus Grodi for this excellent program! And thank you especially, Mother Angelica, for your hard and diligent work in establishing EWTN.
Journey Home is such an inspiring series. The converts and reverts typically have interesting stories to tell. I especially enjoy the one on one programs, and usually do not make it through an entire Roundtable.
God Bless Mother Angelica and thank God for EWTN.
Wow, NYer, interesting stories. Thanks for posting the alerts to the program, I did see it last week for the first time, and part of it this week. I was quite intrigued by the former minister, because many years ago I dated a man who was an Assemblies of God pastor. When we met, it did not seem an obstacle, my being Catholic, because we figured, after all, we are both Christians.
Oh my gosh, not only did it become the obvious barrier to our relationship ever getting serious, but I deepened my faith greatly because I was constantly having to defend and explain it to him.
Last I heard he had become a vice president in a bank, still adamantly anti-Catholic, but two members of his family had converted to the Church. Maybe I’ll see them someday on that show?!
