“It seems that the Mormons will attack even Abraham Lincoln in order to make themselves appear legitimate.

It shows that little is sacred to them exept what they eat, what they wear, and what they do in secret.”

I understand that you had a bad time in the Church, but why do you assume everyone caused your bad time? I had a bad time with some Baptists, and eventually wound up becoming a Mormon, but I do not assume all Baptists are scum just because I know for a fact some of them are. We are all human. Some humans are scum.

Abraham Lincoln was so focused on what he was doing that he refused help to the Mormons when they were clearly having their civil rights violated. He probably could not have helped them, but it didn’t sit well with people who thought better of the government, and found themselves left dangling. I’ve only been a Mormon for closing on 12 years, but I’ve been a history buff for much longer.

Do not let your bitterness over your treatment by some people blind you to the good in others. I’d have given the Mormon elders who felt that way about Lincoln the same advice, btw.

Thank you for your kind and reasoned response.

I certainly don't hate all Mormons. I'll say it again. My husband, mom, brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, inlaws, cousins, nieces and nephews are all Mormon. Your warning " Do not let your bitterness over your treatment by some people blind you to the good in others." seems a bit short-sighted since I am involved with and love all those people. It is only the pompous, self-righteous, and "lying for the Lord" type of Mormons that make me bitter. Some of those type are my fellow freepers.
