You don’t veer from your path ... if there were someone I would count on to try and get a last word refutation to what I offered, it will be you. It is time for me to walk away from this.
Thanks for keeping an open mind about Mitt Romney. There are a lot of closed minds in these parts. Yahoo!
His Aposatles and every righteous Christian who has served his/her brothers and sisters have wasted their time. Too bad we all didn't have your prophetic power and authority to spare our lives, works, and sacred honor in doing good among the children of our Father in Heaven.
If I'm wrong, all I've done is managed to be too dumb to interpret the Word with your depth and insight and cluttered the world with my meager and vain attempts to follow what I thought He meant about works -- without ever once denying saving power of His Atonement.
But if I'm right, you've wasted a lifetime of opportunities of working with the Savior who, in case you haven't noticed, has not recently manned a soup kitchen, etc. Himself-and-in-person, unless you count inspiring, teaching, and charging those who make their meager and misguided efforts to emulate the good Samaritan, whom he Himself used as an example of how we should live.
Why would He have held up as an example the good Samaritan if said good Samaritan were redundant and irrelevant because He decided to give us all a free pass and thereby leave us with little purpose in this life, not to mention the opportunity to grow and learn from our good works and our mistakes.
I truly am inspired by people whose main function in life is to throw rocks at people who try to worship Him in their own way by serving our Heavenly Father's children.
I'll take my chances at being as ignorant and evil as you claim me and my kind to be, mainly because I believe in the Power of His Atonement and His Forgiveness which emantes therefrom, as long as I did not show contempot for Him by thinking that it was all up to me -- which I have not...
Dusting my feet at a doorstep as the situation calls for....
We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
All human beings--male and female--are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.
The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God's commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God's eternal plan.
Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are an heritage of the Lord." (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives--mothers and fathers--will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.
The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.
By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should support when needed.
We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
By resorting to the argument of extreme you reveal the spirit within. You have not the foggiest notion regarding what has occurred during my last thirty plus years since I was born again. I addressed your lack of spiritual understanding regarding works versus faith.
You aren't righteous enough (and after thirty plus years with me, I'm certtain I'm not either) to do works which would cause God to owe you or praise you for adding to Jesus Christ. Now, if you want to serve your fellow humankind, that is a horse of a different color and never a waste of effort, but it is not related to righteousness because ONLY Jesus is The Righteous One. BTW, we both agree there will be a time when rewards will be in order, for those washed in Christ's Blood, not because God owes us a good washing.
Teach and Testify Know the question that should have been asked! http://newsnet.byu.edu/video/18773/
When we tithe, we do it because tha first ten percent of our increase belongs to God, not because you are giving from the sweat of your brow. You don't give that which already belongs to Him. The Spirit within the Saved belongs to God and He is the only One who can grow it, increase it. By faqith Abel brought his sacrifice, not of works lest Abel boast.
“And then what happened to him later as a result of his dissing the Book of Mormon?? “
Nothing. Fiction is fiction.
As a President, he went on to preserve the Union.
I am a hoot. You’ve got that right (and that’s about the only thing you have right)
It certainly causes a burning in the bosom to those who can read and understand.
1 Cor. 10: 32 Give none offence.
2 Cor. 6: 3 Giving no offence in any thing.
Isa. 29: 21 make a man an offender for a word.
Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Yeah - like MHGinTN said in post #793:
Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
I don’t mean to offend you. I’m sorry if you find my message offensive. I suppose I tend to lack grace and concern, I will try harder in the future.
In Colossians 4:6 Paul tells us that we are to present our message with grace, seasoned with salt. This is an interesting illustration for salt does have a tendency to sting when poured into an open wound. When we present Gospel truths into the wound of doctrinal error, it does tend to be uncomfortable. Because of this we must be sensitive to the fact that the Mormon may be especially defensive. However, bear in mind that declaring the truth, in and of itself, is not biblically wrong.
