Pope Benedict XVI has drawn fire from Protestants worldwide for saying in early July of 2007, that they are not part of the true church. Protestants have weighed in and the response has included everything from disappointment to anger.

I pointed out the very real grant of authority, which is all that is required. That authority was Peter's, and Peter's successors, and remains so today. The "seat" (as in "Moses seat") was destroyed with the Old Temple. The authority granted remains.
Neat.
What was the process of being selected to be called out? How were the individuals selected? And was whisky involved?
So you’re saying that Martin Luther, John Calvin, etc are all actually Jesus Christ and (given the trinity) God. right?
There seems to be gaps in your Christian theology.
Christmas is the English term that we give to the birth of Our Lord. It is significant because it was the start of the life of Our Lord as a human being here on Earth, which led to the Crucifixion and Resurrection. If you like, I can refer you to the Vatican web site for a complete Christian education.
Have you too benefited from an American public school education?
Amen. Ephesians 5:23 KJV '... Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.'
GOOD DAY SIR!
I pointed out a parallel grant of authority and asked an obvious question which you ignored. I'm thinking there is a very good and obvious reason that you are avoiding Matthew 18.
Well, it’s raining and muggy and there is a revolution here in the corporation, so it’s not really the best of days, but thanks for your wishes.
I guess John chapter 21 didn't make it into your Bible?
If the Protestants were true to Luther, not only the Deuterocanonical books would have been removed, but Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation as well.
1 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing.
They said to him, We are going with you also. They went out and immediately[a] got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus said to them, Children, have you any food?
They answered Him, No.
6 And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, It is the Lord! Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.
11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, Come and eat breakfast. Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, Who are You?knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.
14 This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.
Jesus Restores Peter
15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah,[b] do you love Me more than these?
He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.
He said to him, Feed My lambs.
16 He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonah,[c] do you love Me?
He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.
He said to him, Tend My sheep.
17 He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah,[d] do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, Do you love Me?
And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.
Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep. 18 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish. 19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, Follow Me.
The Beloved Disciple and His Book
20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is the one who betrays You? 21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, But Lord, what about this man?
22 Jesus said to him, If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.
23 Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?
24 This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.
It’s also worth bringing up the German Peasants’ Revolt of 1524-25 and the role Lutheranism played in it.

OBTW I remember Yah'shua when I repeat the wine and affikomen of Pesach. NAU Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, NAU Ephesians 1:5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, NAU Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved NAU Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, NAU Ephesians 1:8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight NAU Ephesians 1:9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him NAU Ephesians 1:10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, NAU Ephesians 1:11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose NAU Ephesians 1:12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. NAU Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- NAU Ephesians 1:14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, NAU Ephesians 1:15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you NAU Ephesians 1:16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; NAU Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit NAU Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know NAU Ephesians 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. NAU Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be Elohim and Abba of our YHvH Yah'shua HaMashiach, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Mashiach,
that we would be holy and blameless before Him, In love
according to the kind intention of His will,
according to the riches of His grace
that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him
who works all things after the counsel of His will,
having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
to the praise of His glory.
and your love for all the saints,
of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might
and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM...well I would think it would. Wouldn’t it be a more loving attitude to care if people find the proper salvation. If you think the Catholics have it wouldn’t it be more Christ like to care that they come to an understanding of the church, and what the pope did say????
BTW, I’m not Catholic, I just find it odd how unloving and unsharing of their faith, especially since most believe you have to be Catholic to spend eternity in heaven, Catholics are.
I find that attitude odd in non-Catholic Christians too, the Christians who get offended by evangelism.

Well to be fair tho...there are plenty of non-Catholic churches out there including Baptist, that appoint “head” pastors, and Associate Pastors. The hieracrchy of protestant chruchs, IMO is as against biblical teachings as the Catholic Church. These churches with head and associate pastors, IMO do not have the faith that a group of saved men can go to Christ as the head of the Church and ask for guidance. Rather then coming to team decisions, the “final” say is up to ONE man, the “head” pastor. Pretty much the same authority process as the Catholic Church, only on a smaller scale.
Becky
Blessings on you and yours
I interpret these verses as the concept that God wants us all to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. I interpreted you as claiming that you personally were one of the elect, as opposed to all of those who are not of the elect.
If I am incorrect as to your theological point, I apologize for the misunderstanding, and would ask that you correct me.
Nice to see you:)
Becky
What a pile of leftist, unhistorical garbage! None of these actions characterized Geneva in the days of Calvin, other than the Sabbath laws, which were in force in Catholic countries as well. The Puritans in 17th Century New England did forbid a number of these practices, but they did not prohibit drinking in moderation or recreational activities, contrary to what many believe. The rise of stringent regulation of gambling and alcohol abstinence in America in the 19th and early 20th Centuries was the result of the revivalist movement, which rejected many of the doctrines taught by Calvin and the Reformers for a more emotional, less rational religion. In the Pentecostal and Holiness manifestations, the revivalists rejected such key Reformation doctrines as sola Scriptura and sola fide.
As for blaming the beliefs and actions of such people Mary Baker Eddy, Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Ellen White on Calvin and the Reformers, this is as nonsensical as saying that the Catholic practice of priestly celibacy (in the Roman Rite) is the reason for the various cases of sexual abuse on the part of a number of priests. All four of the individuals you mentioned did not subscribe to sola Scriptura or sola fide, but rather relied on personal, extra-Biblical revelations and works-based salvation.
NAU Romans 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."I know that I have called on Yah'shua (YHvH is become my salvation) for my salvation.
